People that are smart and think for themselves.I'm not here for dating.
I honestly can't pick a favorite kind of music and will never associate myself as part of one scene...it's way too limiting. The following is an old post and I'm keeping it selfishly, because I forget all of the fantastic music that I love and need to remind myself... However, I am somewhat annoyed by all of the bands that try to add me on myspace.(I love all of it. Currently I'm really into Brazilian Bossa Nova style jazz and expanding my knowledge of Latin Music, Ibiza Club Music (love the downtempo loungey electronica and Buddha Bar), vintage Go-Go music (think Brigitte Bardot singing in French in the 60's, Ann Margret and Las Vegas Grind), James Bond Soundracks, Princess Superstar (white rapper chick from NYC), Ladybug, Queen Latifah's The Dana Owens Album, BLONDIE (always!...Rapture is my favorite karaoke song), Patsy Cline (second favorite karaoke choice..but a close tie), DJ Shadow, Cake, Afro-Cuban All-Stars, Outkast, Black-eyed Peas, Cowboy Junkies, Concrete Blond, 50 cent, Lifesavas, The Roots, Angie Stone, Bahamadia, Beck, Portishead & Beth Gibbons, Gogol Bordello, Ursula 1000, Tosca (Kruder & Dorfmeister), Johhny Cash (always), the lovely ladies of Jazz (Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, of course Aretha Franklin...), Miles Davis, Mark Farina, Prince (always), Pink Martini, Love and Rockets, Daniel Ash, George Clinton and P-Funk, White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Le Tigre, Peaches (rocks!), David Bowie, the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Band of Gypsies, Johnny Lee Hooker, Mazzy Star & Hope Sandoval, African Head Charge, Groove Armada, KRS-1, Emmylou Harris, Greyboy Allstars, Beck, New Order, Massive Attack, The Cramps, Kelis, Goodie Mob, Soul II Soul, Miss-E Elliott, Gipsy Kings, Nancy Sinatra, Michael Buble, Sinead O'Connor, Billy Idol, Hank Williams Sr.,PJ Harvey, Aerosmith, MOS DEF, Janes Addiction (always), Banyon, I could go on and on...)
I want to watch them all...even the bad ones...(okay, maybe not the REALLY BAD ONES...)I'm not very good at remembering the names of movies either...but I do remember great art direction, costumes, and cinematography. I'm going through a personal renaissance of watching films as of late...
Yes, I'm totally guilty...but I prefer the History Channel, the Nat Geo Channel (although some of their shit is super-cheese, and I have a weakness for )(&#%YOGHD9r8t...oops! I misspelled it...too bad for you, you'll never know.
The Art of Happiness, Tao te Ching, 1000 Chairs, Roget's Thesaurus, the Dictionary, Jitterbug Perfume, Sights by Susanna Vance (she's great!), Read About Me and the Bee, Sacajawea, History of Art, Astrology Books, Tabletop Photography Books, and most of all, Glossy Fashion Magazines. (OK, I need to update this section, but I recently read the Art of Happiness in 2 days, and it was truly inspiring. The Dalai Lama's words are like a drug I want to keep on taking...)
AND PEOPLE I'D LIKE TO MEET: the Dalai Lama, Madonna, Helmut Newton, Coco Chanel, Frank Lloyd Wright, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagen, Doris Day (for her pet foundation!), Lauren Hutton, Catherine the Great, Audrey Hepburn, Karl Lagerfeld, Mary Magdalene, Ellen von Unwerth, David LaChapelle, Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett, many others...
