About Me

Hey I'm Dwight. I'm a famous footballer and played for Manchester United and Aston Villa. This Summer I captained my country Trinidad and Tobago at the World Cup in Germany where went out in the groups but managed to gain a successful and heroic draw against Sweden (10/6/06).My biggest achievement as a footballer was in 1999 when I won the treble with Manchester United, the highlight being the UEFA Champions League win in Barcelona against Bayern Munich. In the 1998/1999 season, I formed a formidable partnership with my best friend on and off the pitch Andy Cole scoring nearly 50 Goals!I was brought to English football by Graham Taylor in 1989 when he signed me for Aston Villa for £120, 000.I currently play for Sunderland AFC and my protege is Lawrence Gurney. He is a great young footballer with a bright future. I have changed positions from centre forward with good all round movement to a more isolated defensive midfielder and playmaker. This new position suits my style of play now as I'm coming to the twilight of my career. Lawrence plays in this position also and followed me from the Sydney Youth Academy and now plays in the Sunderland youth team.My full name is Dwight Eversley Yorke, and I was born on the small island of Tobago in 1971. I have a wonderful son, Harvey, who is unfortunately blind but he's a great lad. My ex girlfriend Kate is now married to pop star Peter Andre. I have one half brother, Daniel Elsley.I must thank Graham Taylor, the then Aston Villa boss in 1989, who gave me my first pro contract after witnessing my ball skills on the beach while holidaying. For the first six years of my Aston Villa career I played as a right winger as the striking positions were often filled by Dalian Atkinson and Dean Saunders. I was also plagued by injuries during this phase of my career. When I converted to the position striker in the 1995-96 season, my talents really became noticed. I scored an iconic goal againt Arsenal in the Coca-Cola Cup semi final in 1996. These 3 seasons up until 1998 would propel me to great personal achievement in England and this was recognised by Alex Ferguson who signed me for Manchester United for £12.6m, 2 games into the 1998-99 season. The most successful period of my career was in Manchester, and also my happiest playing days in England were there. In the Hyundai A-League in Australia, my greatest achievement as a footballer came when I lifted the innaugural A-League title as captain of Sydney FC. This title gave me the most pleasure as I was the hub of the team and was very proud to be captain during the 2005-06 season in my new postion of playmaker. I would have had one more season with Sydney, and after that I would have returned to England to concentrate on media projects and PR but also keep my ties in Sydney, scouting for them at grassroots level in London, starting officially in 2008. However, I left my contract with Sydney a year early to go back to England to play in Roy Keane's Sunderland side. I had a great time with Sydney but the lure of my old team mate as manager and the fact that I'll be playing in England again was just too much.I left Sydney for Sunderland on transfer-deadline-day in the Summer of 2006 to resume my football career in England. I truly enjoyed my time in Australia but I felt I needed to go to my spiritual football home.Personally, I take lessons in the art of love and seduction from grind&love expert Tom Jasper, who has a practice in Wimbledon, UK. My groove and depth in romance stems mostly from his professional guidance. However my healthy looks and bright white smile don't do me any harm.
