About Me

My name is Steve. I live in California. I grew up in the mountains where the summer fog would roll in from the sea. I was a nerd athlete in school. I like to read, and travel, and study history. I live alone now. I'm here to meet real people with whom I can share and make discoveries: kind people with love of art, music, movies, literature. MySpace is a great place to discover music. My parents and grandparents immersed me in all kinds of music as a child. I am an unashamed fan of good melody. I also like to take photographs. I have taken most of the photos that I use as backgrounds. I listen more than I talk.
Musicians, I enjoy discovering good new music so you are very welcome here. Thanks.
The Corrs
One brother, three sisters and supporting bandmates from Ireland. My faves! They're fantastic musicians and they write fantastic songs!
Sit back and enjoy the Corrs' appearance on Saturday Night Live way back in 1999:

Rebecca 'Bec' Lavelle
What an amazing singer! I was immediately captured by the feeling she can put into a song. She is one of the best singers I have heard. And she's so very kind to the fans. I have become a huge fan of hers!
Per Gessle (Son of a Plumber)
Per Gessle performs live.
What a brilliant, infectious album! I've been enjoying it a lot! Per Gessle (better known as one half of the Swedish rock duo Roxette) is one of the best songwriters ever, with a gift for great melodies and hooks. The album "Son of a Plumber", which came out in late 2005, is a tribute to the period of pop music from late 1960's to early 1970's. Unfortunately, this CD was not released in the States, so you have to work a bit to get it. To get a better idea of the concept of the album, watch the EPK Video . Thanks to Cynni for introducing me to this album! :)
Bryan Adams
Bryan Adams is a rocker who is unashamed to create beautiful ballads. He has one of the hardest working bands and they have been touring all over the world. Thanks to Caro for re-introducing me to a great artist. If you look at his tour schedule over the past several years, you'll realize that Bryan and his band travel EVERYWHERE!
Mary Greene & Noel Shine

I would like to tell you about about these brilliant musicians from County Cork, Ireland. I have bought three of their albums and they're fantastic! The songs are well-crafted and the musicianship is outstanding.
Black Lab
Black Lab is an unbelievably great band - and should rank near the top of American bands! Paul Durham is one of the best lead vocalists I have ever heard. Visit the Black Lab Official Website and give them a listen. Well worth it!!
The Perishers
Another great Swedish act! I saw them open for Sarah McLachlan. They are an excellent band!
Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan - Possession (Piano Version)

I first heard her Surfacing album while sitting in a parking lot in 1997, and decided to buy the album. I have been hooked ever since. I saw her in concert and she was incredible.
Katie Melua
Friends of mine in Europe told me about Katie Melua. She should be better known in the States. It's a shame that certain artists who are well-known in Europe for some reason have a hard time breaking into the U.S. "Record companies, tear down those walls!
Wir Sind Helden
Friends of mine from Germany have introduced me to this excellent German band. They have a very distinctive sound that is somewhat akin to early New Wave, but in the end it's completely all their own. The have a lot of FUN with their music. I think that they're one of the best bands in the world, period. A very unique band worth checking out! Official website is HERE .
Nolwenn Leroy
Here's another musical discovery from the internet. Nolwenn Leroy is rather well known in the French-speaking world, and has released two albums since her victory in the second season of the television idol contest, Star Academy. This beautiful-voiced singer has incredible tone and pitch, at least I think so. You can download and watch some of her videos at her official site HERE .

My Interests

Making friends from all over the world. Searching time and space for great music, since I don't have faith in radio anymore. I enjoy discovering rock, pop, folk, etc., that is great, even if not popular. Occasionally, you'll hear a forgotten song of the past here. Reading. History. Photography. Internet message boards. Family and Friends. Swimming.

I'd like to meet:

Courteous people whose inner voices won't stop singing.

Sharon Corr is a favourite artist of mine; I would like to meet her.
