Ramblings of a not-so-dizzy blonde

About Me

Let's see. Texas born and Texas bred. Love my Cowboys and Longhorns, Tex-Mex, and Herradurra Resposado tequila. Active in church and community. Head over heels in love with a good man (so hard to find!) and his sons.I don't volunteer much information, but I'll answer questions. I'm hard to know but totally loyal to my friends. I don't play mind games and have no patience for those who try.

My Interests

Reading voraciously, dabbling at creative writing. Playing piano, singing in church choir, playing handbells in church choir. Geeking out to sci-fi/fantasy television and movies. Spending way too much time online. Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas Longhorns. Recent convert to Guitar Hero III.

I'd like to meet:

people who don't have time for mind games but value good conversation, traditional morals, and don't take themselves too seriously.

Music:

To listen to? Nearly anything other than hardcore rap. The first few that come to mind: a-ha, matchbox twenty, Rob Thomas, Jason Becker, Disturbed, Evanescence, Operator, TOFOG, Russell Crowe (yes, he can sing). 80s pop/rock rules, and of course, there's always the classics - Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart. But those are more fun to play (especially since there are very few pianists I can stand to listen to).

I play piano and sing second soprano. In 2004, I was part of an amateur chorus that performed at Carnegie Hall, and in 2005 I sang with my church choir in Trinity Church in Stratford, England (in front of Shakespeare's tomb) and in Castle Stirling, Stirling, Scotland (in the chapel where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned). Fun times, fun times.

Movies:

Star Wars (the original), The Fifth Element, Downward Angel, The Fast and the Furious, Blade & Blade 2, Pride & Prejudice, Stargate, Clay Pigeons, The Village, Lord of the Rings, comic book movies, romantic comedies . . . the list goes on. And on. And on. I love movies. :-)

Television:

LOST, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: SG-1, House, M.D., The Pretender, 24, Monty Python

Books:

Way too many to list . . . I read almost anything: sci-fi/fantasy/horror, British mysteries, thrillers, classic-style detective stories, historical fiction. I don't read romance except for a very limited selection of authors.

Some of my favorite authors: C.S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, David & Leigh Eddings, Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, Juliette Marillier, Georgette Heyer, Dick Francis, Ruth Rendell, Stephen King, C.S. Friedman, Lois McMaster Bujold. Many more.

Heroes:

Glenn Cunningham, Johnny Cash, C.S. Lewis, Elisabeth Elliott, my grandmother
