About Me
Dragon Zaga is one of the hottest young bands to come out of Mexico´s musical talent and is making waves in the entire country, while creating a new meaning and audience for the Latin alternative rock scene.
Since 1998, when they arrived from their hometown, Torreon, to "the biggest city of the world", Mexico City, they have been leading the new independent Mexican rock scene carrying their revolutionary sound to all the young audiences in all the Mexican territories.
Dragon Zaga is a 4-piece band that does not have the power of launching fire, but instead, they have perfect dose of powerful music and lyrics. Their original music is based on the combination of funk-based melodies, grinding guitar riffs and a rhythmically fierce foundation. The magnetic atmosphere that makes a live show of Dragon Zaga has gained the band a loyal following at different venues for their energetic show based on the fusion of Hip-hop culture with Hard Rock in a extreme Latino approach. Their long career includes the fact that they were called to open for "The Bloodhound Gang" in October 2000 in Mexico City, and they were part of the compilation CD "El que la hace la grita" (Sony Music) in September 2003. They have also been part of big events for brands like Coca-Cola and other festivals across Mexico. In addition, they were part of events made by "Telehit", the biggest TV channel for young music fans in Mexico, and they continue to bring their music to the main cities inside the Mexican republic.
Over the last 5 years they have shared the stage with bands like Jaguares, Café Tacuba, Molotov, Plastilina Mosh, Zurdok, Santa Sabina, Resorte, La Casta, Victimas del Dr. Cerebro, Kenny, Pulpo, Los de abajo, La Lupita, Division Minuscula, Panda, La Barranca, Guillotina, Ely Guerra, Radio Kaos, Leonardo de Lozane among others.
In 2004, Dragon Zaga launched its first album "Fuego Norte" under the independent record label "Antidoto". This album can be found in record stores in Spain, France, Portugal, Mexico, and soon in USA, Canada and all Latin America. Even though their last album is totally in Spanish, they have an unreleased repertoire that includes original songs in English, thus breaking language barriers with their own music. Dragon Zaga heavily promoted their first album "Fuego Norte" through Radio, Internet and television. Their first single "America Latina" was played on all the top video channels in the country. "America Latina" was also a "buzz clip" on MTV-ES (USA). Oyeme Jose, their second single, also has a video wich was played by Mexican television. America Latina, and Oyeme Jose are both part of a compilation cd called "Antidoto Orbital" (available in the U.S).
Dragon Zaga participated in the Soundtrack for the Mexican movie/documentary "1973" with 2 unreleased songs called "Me Siento Muerto (Disculpame)" and "Profundo Atardecer"
The band recently participated in the Rage Against the Machine tribute album (en español) with an adaptation of the song "Darkness of Greed" in spanish. This record is available troughout the United States in all the major record stores.
