"There are bands that should just quit, and there are bands that are going places. The Management is going places." - Thomas Stephen Talbot, Audio Junkie
Gritty, in your face, guitars lined with punk aggression and metal squeals, ska and reggae bounce that'd make Bob Marley proud, emotional demon screams and melodic gypsy-jazz horn lines. These are the sounds of The Management, a 9-piece rock band out of Salt Lake City, a band who's sound simply says they were sick of doing what was expected of them, and not satisfied with mediocrity.
The Management was formed by Steve-O, Dave and Steve Matney, and Eric Class in 2004 after their previous attempt at something different crashed and burned. They knew the ska-metal style they had established had something special, but needed something different, and that difference came in a pair of inspirational horn players, Eric Soper and Dave Gardner. Their melodic, jazz-influenced, melodies were the perfect counter part for the ruggedly aggressive guitar lines that would fit better in an Ozzy or Iron Maiden tribute band than in one laced with mellow reggae upbeats. As the sound developed, the need for more horns arose, filling in only previously dreamed countermelodies and harmonies. Insert Austin Wilkins, Erik Ohlson, and Tye Gardner, Dave's little brother.
With a line-up not only visually --but musically-- massive, this group of talented musicians are ready to pickup where previous attempts have left off, filling the air with a sound like no other and with an energy that has been thought lost by all but the hopeful, and a promise to leave you wanting more.
