Dot Dash Duck

The world's foremost Morse code pop trio

About Me

..
The idea of playing Morse code on a duck call came up one evening at the celebrated Klinker club. Dot and Duck were drunkenly discussing the decline of telegraphy. They set about composing some tunes using International Morse code, and recruited a Dash (the magnificent double bass player John Edwards) for their first gig at the Klinker (Sept 7th 2000). It proved bafflingly popular. Five months later they returned to the Klinker for a second gig, at which someone kindly booked them for an event at the Arcola Theatre, Dalston (May 26th 2001). This being a relatively highbrow affair, their management advised that a new (less sensible) Dash be found. Darren Morris fitted the bill perfectly with his cow horn and human beat-box skills. Their two sets, one on the stage and one in the cafeteria, went down very well with the teenage girls in the audience (Dot's cousins). A year later Veryan Weston invited the trio to perform live on Resonance 104.4 FM, with special guest Lol Coxhill, but their next gig was not until July 29th 2005, again at the Klinker. Dash was unable to come, having moved to Brighton, and it was decided that a third Dash be found for the gig. Zoë Dowlen seemed a logical choice: she didn't know Morse Code, and she had two dots in her name. Unfortunately, she fell ill before the gig do Dot and Duck played as a duo. When she had recovered, the band was invited to play on the Ambrosia Rasputin show (the crumb in Resonance FM's beard) on Oct 9th 2005. After the session (and some salad), they jumped on a bus bound for Dot's flat, where they began to record the band's first and last (or is that 'lost'?) album. On November 8th 2005, Zoë played her first live gig (at the Klinker) in the Dash chair, and this was followed up a month later at the Nunhead branch of the Klinker club. The trio has recorded an album, Dot Dash Duck, and it WILL be made available after a few editorial decisions...
