About Me

Sun Tzu began its life in London early 2003 when London based New Zealanders Sean Fogarty (Guitar/Vox) and Craig Harrison-Smith (Guitar) moved on from their previous project Zero for Conduct to seek something different. Recruiting new rhythm section, French bassplayer Marc Broussely and fellow Kiwi drummer Ryan Mahalm they set about creating a post-hardcore combination with a dynamic balance of power and subtlety. The band immediately set to work on new material and off the back of Sean and Craigs old demo began a schedule of solid gigging around London. It is always difficult starting out in London, but Sun Tzu have had a fantastic reaction at every venue theyve played, a testament to the power of the bands live shows.Sun Tzu reached another level when asked to headline their fourth ever performance on the main stage of London's Garage in Islington. Their follow up show at the Barfly venue in North London was recognised by Rocksound Magazine, "Sun Tzu rarely crack a smile. Its clearly taking every muscle they have to give birth to their fractured creations". The Barflys in-house guide, Order said, Sun Tzu sound fuckin brilliant.Although a common musical thread connects the band together, i.e. a love of loud, intelligent guitar music, it is their contrasting differences that make for compelling listening. Sun Tzu's music balances between textured soundscapes and a crushing wall of melody and is at its best live.
