"Bugs Salcido is a southwest cult hero"
This is what Robyn Hitchcock told MTV viewers in 1988, after seeing him perform in San Francisco.Since the early 80's to the present the talented singer/songwriter/musician has influenced many artists and musicians.
Despite a media saturated world Salcido has kept the vagabond troubador image alive in the tradition of Robert Johnson and Woody Guthrie.Salcido has performed on stage or in the studio with Sheryl Crow, The Rembrants, Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven, Los Lobos, Bon Jovi, and most recently, The Counting Crows, among many other rock star glitteratti. In 2000 Salcido released his debut CD to critical acclaim. In 2002, Sir Paul McCartney chose Salcido's song "Everyone Needs Some Love Now" off his debut to be included on The Garland Appeal's Familiar Mysteries compilation CD; citing that it had a "Lennonesque" quality.
The Garland Appeal Is McCartney's own charity, in honor of his late wife Linda, for breast cancer awareness; bringing MRI machines to rural areas thoughout the world.
Believeing in the healing powers of music and being a Beatle's fan, this was a dream come true for Salcido. In 2004 Salcido released his second CD titled "The Juarez Murders".
A concept album based on the 400+ women who have disappeared in the border town.
Growing up 45 miles north of Juarez Mexico in Las Cruces, New Mexico USA,
