babamania Biography
Genki... Vocals
Mari... Vocals
Yujin... Guitars and Programming
They started in 90's with the basic Chili Peppers recipe of heavy funk and hiphop-inspired beats and bass, tongue-twisting poetic lyrics (All in English, no less), and full-throttle guitar.
They then cut the testosterone with a bit of female soul, courtesy of co-lead vocalist Mari.
In 1999, they met a Scottish sound producer, Gary Stout in Tokyo and began to built up
their unique sound that were influenced by 70's funk and soul or 80's sound such as pop and dance music, new wave, rock... and made their debut in Japan in the July of 2000.
Their activities were followed with the funky party tune "Take it" and "Wanna Rock"
and further performances at various festivals in Japan including Fuji Rock Festival / 2001,
Rising Sun Rock Festival / 2002, Rockin' on Japan Countdown Festival / 2004...
They have been putting the base of gigs in Japan
and just started their monthly event called
[DISCONTINENTAL]
in Tokyo since this year.
But they are really looking forward going out of Japan to play gigs soon someday...
