Matthews Breaks Through!
"Must Be Doin' Something Right," by Patrick Jason Matthews and Marty Dodson , was the first number one for both writers, and also the first for Universal artist Billy Currington , who took it to the top of the charts. It is the most played country song in America of 2005/2006.
Born in Harrells Store, North Carolina, Matthews, at age fifteen, saw Eric Clapton on television, and was transfixed. This ephiphany led to his obsession with writing songs. After college, where he earned a degree in English, Matthews hit the road as a roadie for musical comedy duo Pinkard and Bowden, which brought him to Nashville.Since his arrival, he's enjoyed numerous cuts such as Kevin Denney's "That's Just Jesse", Tammy Cochran's "Life Happened," James Otto's "The Ball," Dusty Drake's "One Last Time," Roxie Dean's "Remind Me," Julie Roberts' "Break Down Here," and Billy Currington's Number One smash "Must Be Doin' Something Right."Matthews' debut single as an artist, "That's What Mamas Do," is now going for adds at country radio nationwide.
