About Me
Buddha Bomb Music collaborates with many artists.I am a 54 year old "raver" involved in many creative endeavors. I love all forms of electronic music, poetry, visual displays, photography, art and performance. My primary ambition is to make original electronic music, and to incorporate my music along with spoken word, visuals and other dimensions into lush, multi-faceted live-audience performances. This spring begins my seventh year as music host on public radio station KGNU. I am on the air about 15 hours per month, most of them on "Sleepless Nights" from Midnight to 3AM. I love playing music in the middle of the night!I co-produce a prime-time show on Saturday night called "Electronic Air", which is the longest running electronic music show in Colorado (it began in 1995). The show is similcast on the web, you can listen at www.kgnu.org every Saturday night from 9 to 11 mountain time. For the first two years, most of my radio first shifts at KGNU "Restless Mornings", began at 3AM and finished at 5:28AM. There wasn't exactly a crowd around, and thus, I became used to doing music sets alone. Since then my slots are more reasonable, and I have frequent guests on Sleepless Nights and Electronic Air shows (midnight to 3AM).I began playing live (at clubs, parties, festivals) two years ago and I must say that I love playing live even more than the radio. I love to make people dance; it is such a rush and beautiful, it warms my heart. Thank you, I love everyone who loves my music!I chose the name Buddha Bomb, which might seems unusual, at least to some. I am a practicing buddhist and deeply revere all teachings and practices. Buddha represents awake mind, brilliance, and compassion. The word "bomb" has more than one connotation. One connotation is used as a positive exclamation, as in "she's the bomb", etc. The other connotation is obvious and has to do with destruction, power, explosive, etc.Buddha is the Bomb that destroys ignorance.I play many forms of music, mostly electronic, however there are two styles closest to my heart. One style is more "formless" in nature, I draw from many genres, including ambient, chill, electronica, experimental, idm, random-stuff, spoken-word, and world-beat...and I when I play this style, I am expressing the "Buddha" aspect of my being. The other style is beat-oriented, abrupt, mind-expanding, deep techno, dark psytrance, insane. Yes, much of this music is destructive. But, what does it destroy? My theory is that the dance of electronic music, delivered in a powerful manner, has the ability to stimulate the chemical and electrical activities in your brain, resulting in clarity, higher perceptions, and perhaps wisdom. Conceptual mind is what is destroyed. And that's a good thing. So, when I play these types of sets, I am manifesting the "Bomb".Last year I took courses in spoken word and developed several autobiographical monologues, which I performed in front of audiences. This year I am taking courses in digital audio production, gaining knowledge, skills and accumulating various tools and machines.Yes, I love to party and I do so with gusto. At this point, I am keeping substances to a minimum, although I love a shot of cold Jager 3 in the morning at Outdoor Festivals!
In 2005, I went to 8 Festivals. I did DJ sets at 6 of the Festivals, and 2 sets at Burning Man. It was my first Burn and my initial impression upon seeing the playa was "Salvador Dali meets Mad Max". I did an eclectic electronic set one afternoon, and then a midnight psytrance set the next midnight. It was the first time I saw the Man burn and at a spectacular moment a young man (about 19 yrs) approached me and told me how much he enjoyed my set, and thought it was awesome and stuff. I felt fulfilled by the entire experience.I am a member of an artist collective called Onetribe (check us out at www.OneTribeProductions.org - we produce intentional parties, and many other art events. Check out our site for schedules, you can join our mailing list if you are interested in our activities. So there is a community of loving people. I went to Germany last summer to attend Psytrance Festivals with two of my closest dj friends, Mukti and Krya. We experienced the more global culture and it was mind-boggling. Many thousands attend these festivals and it is a way of life for many.At this writing, we are entering the second half of April 2006, and I recently joined Myspace.
