damn, gotta smoke before i talk about movies....dont get me wrong i love any sort of art be it key, or canvas but a movie is the only thing that basicailly obligates the viewer to observe it for such a long period of time. Of course the art of theater is very similar and basically the parent to the movie. A movie gives you a specific perspective, a perspective which has been chosen,obligating the viewer to see a point of view other than their own. its like seeing something, an experience of the world, through someone elses eyes. a view point other than our own, experienced in such clarity and in such a purposful manner that can rarely be seen in the world. these are some of my favorites...
tv's cool, certain things have slipped in, especially things like adult swim, its got shows that are so far off from common and purposfuly weird that are great. shows like the simspsons and family guy are also pretty damn good. funny that all of these are actually cartoons. There's another layer to whole tv thing, the fact that tv is used as a form of news coverage to the masses, tv news is all well and good, and does inform the public of factual things in our world. but what we have to accept is that the news is competeing with shows like american idol and pimp my ride(i cant stand american idol, but pimp my rides the shit, i sent those guys an application and everthing), tv news' main goal has strayed from informative to entertainment and therefore only the most catchy type shit goes on air, hopefully people get that. oh yeah discovery channel and national geographic type stuff are pretty bad ass.
damn, ive been proven wrong ive just proffessed all about how movies are so great becuase they keep people in this vicarious world for such a long time but books put you there for days at a time if they want. i guess i just dont have the patience for books, the few books i have read though i have actually really enjoyed at the top of the list would be the good ol' cliche catcher in the rye(seriously its bad ass, check that shit out)the old man and the sea (ridiculously simple and just as great), hunter s thompson, walden(ill tell u this ill never complain about the escalator not working)
