National Association of Swor Families
As of January 10, 2008, I have been married 32 years! Wow!!! Seems like I deserve a medal or some kind of award as the last 12 years have been more like surviving!!! Our son, which is 26 years old now put us through H*** here on earth! I personally have never drank or smoked, but our son did both and drugs! I love him dearly, but wonder how he has lived to be 26 years old. Some of his so called friends didn't, so I guess I am thankful he has lived to hopefully learn from his mistakes! Well, I am 55 years old, now! I have a great birthday party at Olive Garden that my daughter set up! It was great to be surrounded by family and friends making this my best birthday ever!!! My mother was 53 years old when I got married and I was her youngest of two daughters. Time stands still for no man or woman so I better start living each day as a gift! A gift that surprises you, that you can not return or better yet you don't want to return!!! LOL I have heard that friends are the garden of our lives! But I think that friends are a gift you give yourself by being their true friend!

My Interests

My hobbies are singing, computers, oil painting, watercoloring, traveling, but mostly genealogy, history and walking cemeteries! LOL I enjoy meeting new distant cousins and sharing information and old photos of our common ancestors! I am the past president of the National Association of Swor Families, but currently on their board of directors and their historian. And we are trying to preserve the Garvin Memorial Cemetery located in Dallas, TX off of the Northwest Highway. I became interested in my family history when I was teenager just out of high school and then again after the lost of our second child who was born stillborn. I am not Mormon but bought my first computer because of a simple genealogy program called Personal Ancestral Files back in 1984. I thought that purchasing a computer would decrease the amount of paper work you collect in genealogy. I soon learned it only adds more paper work, but that the computer was the way of the future. I have learned by trial and error how to make banners and web sites on the internet and use both Family Tree Maker and PAF, too! Though I am by no means an expert I have enjoyed learning and sharing information with others about family history and the unique world of computers and the internet!

I'd like to meet:

I enjoy meeting people and helping others find the joy of learning about their ancestors and how they make history come alive. Also, interested in meeting people who are interested in several of my family lines that I have been working on for several years. I am not looking for male or female companions or partners at all. I just like meeting people and especially connecting with other family members who are interested in genealogy and history, too!

This YouTube has Liz Larsen a Swor descendant who is an actress of both Broadway and Hollywood! Liz is the second woman on this YouTube which is a short clip of the play, The Most Happy Fella on Broadway. I have not had to pleasure of meeting Liz or her husband Sal Viniano! LOL But I have had the pleasure of talking to Sal Viniano about Liz's great grandparents: William R. and Irene (maiden name unknown) Swor and their descendants recently on the telephone!!!! Liz Larsen's grandparents were Georgie Price (a well know vaudeville singer and song writer) and Irene Swor. Irene, Liz's mother was named after her mother, but changed her name to Lorraine Manners for stage. Though you might not think you know Georgie Price you will recognize the song he made famous "Bye, Bye, Blackbird".

Music:

I like all sorts of music from classical to some country! LOL I enjoy singing in a Chorale which is for all age groups from high school to members older than myself. LOL Our director is the head of our university here locally and lots of the younger members of the choir are music majors!

Movies:

I like all types of movies, but my family says I get too involved with wanting the good guy to win! So I usually wait for the movie to come out on rental, so my enthusiasm doesn't bother anyone else!!! For example, while dating I almost ended up in the guy behind me chair when the white shark in "Jaws" reared up into the boat!!! That is just one funny example as now days that scene is not even scary!!! LOL

Television:

I hate watching just regular TV with all the commercials and channel hopping my family does. When I do get a chance to gain control of the remote control I love to watch the Sci-Fi (like Star Trek Enterprise, John Doe, The Dresden Files, and Eureka), History and Discovery Channels. LOL

Books:

I really enjoy reading Max Lucado books. When I was younger I read books like: Little Women, Little Men, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Tale of Two Cities, David Cooperfield and Oliver Twist. After having children that were diagnosed as being dyslexic I realize I am, too! But I only had help from my mother who was a wonderful teacher to help me overcome my dyslexia! I know I read a lot to improve my reading skills. So I read books that I considered classics! I do not read very much now, but if I do it's a new Max Lucado book!

Heroes:

I do not think heroes are some movie star or person with money! Heroes are ordinary people who see a need and go out of their way to help others! If all the over paid movie stars, athletes and billionaires saw how much the elderly and sick really need their help, maybe this would be a better world to live in!
