Catharsis’ first experience with electronic music occurred during the early to mid 90’s in the San Francisco industrial scene. Genres ranging from no wave, classic EBM, to electro-industrial provided early inspiration and a stomping ground that would later translate into a larger appreciation for all edgy EDM genres; most notably hard techno/powernoise/hardcore and the resulting synthesis -- industrial-techno. During ’96 to ’02 Catharsis relocated to San Luis Obispo, CA. In ’98 he started DJing and over the next four years ran approximately 90 electronic music events from club oriented ( Bad Monkey ) to undergrounds that hosted many international producers/DJs and California based performers. In ’02 Catharsis returned to the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently, he has turned his focus to producing various genres of techno and spending a lot of time in studio. In ’03 Catharsis formed EGR Records . The Xenos EP is his 1st release along with producers Nadon and HedMess. Beyond DJing & producing Catharsis is available as an audio engineer for mixing and mastering for CD and vinyl working at The Bubble (EGR HQ) in SF: Audio ServicesCatharsis formed EGR Software in 2004 and is coding a cutting edge software environment for real time graphics and advanced control of DSP/synthesis engines.Catharsis co-founded Periphony Systems in 2007 and is creating a low cost audio hardware DSP box for advanced audio spatialization and synthesis useful for DJs, live sound / performers, and even home audio installations where a surround sound 2D or 3D speaker array of any number of speakers is desired (32 speakers for 1st gen hardware).For more audio, pictures, and video check out the EGR media page.or join the EGR announcement email list (low volume) if you want to be updated on all new music released by EGR Records and any events that EGR artists may be performing at in the future.
