About Me

I'm Brandi from Louisiana, but I live in Kansas (no, not on a farm, in a real city). I'm a mama (the weird tattooed mom that all the other moms secretly wonder and talk about) and I laugh a lot. I come from Irish and Sicilian people... so if you know anything about those two cultures, throw them together and add crazy Loozeeanity to it. {Okay, you know how on t.v. and stuff they portray Italian women like all sweet and docile one second, and then hollering and flailing their arms about the next, and then right back to sweet? That's me.} I love music and books and movies and American and European history and cooking and taking naps. My family is everything to me - they always come first (and they'll be my top friends cause I love them so much and they rule). I have two younger brothers. Colin is...well, he's Bobalouie and he's a gearhead. And the baby, Corey, is in college. And my daughter is 10; she's quite insane (don't know where she gets it). I'm not political or preachy, but I have strong opinions - if you want to know where I stand on issues, just ask me (okay, I might be a bit preachy on being green...) - I won't try to convert you to my way (but really you could at least change a couple light bulbs in your home), but I expect the same courtesy in return....

My Interests

www.reusablebags.com My kiddo - I'm a complete bookworm and a total history nerd. I like tea, not coffee (yuck). I love the sound of everyone's fireworks on Independence Day and New Year's Eve. I love it when it's hot at night. I love the smell of Central Grocery in the French Quarter. I love to rock out in the car and in my living room. I really love taking naps. I am thrilled to watch my daughter play softball. Getting tattooed is always fun (except for the one on my back - that one was the most excruciating torture I've ever endured). Once I danced on stage with George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars to "Atomic Dog" (with my friend Lisa, a.k.a. Neecole). I love going home to Louisiana, but I don't want to live there - at least not until my daughter is out of school. Oh, and I make the best gravy (that's spaghetti sauce to all you that don't know) you'll ever taste - it's exactly the way my great-grandmother made it. I collect skeleton keys and refrigerator magnets (the magnets thing was on accient, now it's on purpose); I love the photographs of Margaret Bourke-White and Robert Doisneau. I scored a 100% on the "How Louisiana are you?" Quizie! What about you? Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

I'd like to meet:

Um...some people.... .. width="425" height="350" ..

Music:

U2, JohnPaulGeorge&Ringo, AFI, Elvis, the Doors, the Ramones, Queen, 80s music - oh man did I love some Skid Row back in the day (my first concert was Skid Row & Bon Jovi), some of the old school grunge, a good bit of country music, hippy music from the 60s, Dean Martin, Harry Connick Jr., hello Madonna, AFI, classical and opera, David Bowie rules, Depeche Mode, Lynyrd Skynyrd (hee hee), the Cure, the Clash, Blondie, CopaCabana was my favorite song when I was a child - I still love it. A Fire Inside, the Sex Pistols - I have varied musical tastes (it's very typical of me, I am a human collage) -- currently into Paolo Nutini, Mika, Blaqk Audio {4eva} - oh, and I am crazy mad for AFI: they are my preciouses.. width="425" height="350" ..

Movies:

Best movie ever = Gone With the Wind, but I love movies in general. Across the Universe blew my mind - a feast for the soul it is! If Tim Burton touched it, then I adore it. If it's funny, show it to me: Old School, all Austin Powers, Wedding Crashers, pretty much anything Vince Vaughn is in (even his not so funny movies) - bring on Grease, Wedding Singer, Billy Madison, Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, LOTR, Drop Dead Fred, Tombstone, the Birdcage, To Wong Foo... - I love old 80s movies (from my childhood), the best being Sixteen Candles and Weird Science; and Dazed & Confused is sweet. I'm a freak for RHPS, yes I know the audience participation... All Godfathers, Goodfellas, Entropy, Cry Baby, Knight's Tale, Sound of Music, Mad Love, Bond - I really love monster movies, and I want to watch horror flicks, but only if someone is with me and only in the daytime because I've slept with my lights on too many times.

Television:

Rome (it's over, boo!), the Sopranos (also over, boo!), Lost, Prison Break; I love Gilmore Girls (over again!), Rescue Me, the Closer, Life, Moonlight, Ugly Betty, the Office is beyond funny so watch it, Deadwood (all the good shows are over), Sex and the City (I'm not like any of them, in case you wanna know which one's T-shirt I'd wear) - I dig the Tudors, and adore Dexter.

Books:

My favorite book ever is The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King; The Thirteenth Tale; Sweet Potato Queen books (huh larious); I love Jane Austen (I am a girl, after all), Anne Rice novels and other Stephen King works, F. Scott Fitzgerald, trashy romance novels; also historical books, of course -- there is a delightful book about royal scandals throughout time that rocks, its very long title is A Treasury of Royal Scandals, The Shocking True Stories of History's Wickedest, Weirdest, Most Wanton Kings, Queens, Tsars, Popes, and Emperors

Heroes:

Elizabeth Tudor
