About Me

Welcome to my profile, have a look around and feel free to comment or message me with any questions or comments. I will do my best to respond but I am usually pretty busy in the studio creating new work. So please don't be disappointed or offended if I don't get right back to you.

I paint primarily in oils, using classic technique with an emphasis on idealized romantic aesthetics, but retaining a distinctive contemporary feel. With a love of nature and an underlying sensitivity to living things, I started developing my skills at a young age. I soon became fascinated with the challenge of depicting the human form and its countless beautiful intricacies. Recently my compositions have been simply transposing flowers and other natural elements with the female figure. They have appeared together in art for centuries. It seems only natural, flowers are very similar to woman both physiologically and symbolically; both are vessels of new life, of renewal, of continuous change. Both are justly associated with heaven or paradise. It is the realization that we are all intrinsically linked with the other living things on this earth, that we share the same requirements for life, and eventually the same fate is what I wish to convey. My upcoming work I will continue to explore this theme. At the very least I want my art to remind people what an amazing and beautiful process life is. In turn, it is my hope that we can realize human potential, and make this world into the paradise it could be. Not just a glimpse at the idyllic fragments of my own Evanescent Eden. -Evan S.
