About Me

Swamp Records brings Japan underground hip hop culture from around the world. Began in 2004, Swamp has built a strong name and solid following for itself through the distribution of quality underground hip hop artists. Introducing non-mainstream hip hop to Japanese music fans is no easy task, but through determination, teamwork, and a lot of really kool artists, we have been able to build a great label here dedicated to releasing jazzy, soulful, lo-fi underground hip hop here in Japan. We also dish out battle-ready flows on Fat Tip Records, our sub-label of Swamp which brings Japanese fans underground hip hop that is a bit hard for Swamp's jazzy image. With nation-wide distribution (Tower, HMV, Disk Union, Tsutaya, etc.), we're continuing to spread tight music to the great fans here. Our growth is putting all those skeptics that thought there was no place for underground hip hop in Japan in their place.
