Steve Supreme Biography
Looking back on Steve Supremes (civil name: Steven Hack, 06.10.78) DJ career is as if we were to take the journey through his life. It was early on, that music and life have pertinently joined as one. Looking at his life or music separately is not an option, it's impossible; Steve Supreme loves, feels and lives his sound, his work.
It was all a dream.
It always been there.. Back in the days when funky Vibes like, Chacka Khan, and the Jackson 5 amazed the subtle 6 year old it happened. Let alone the beats of Diana Ross and Herbie Hancock, Steve was enthralled by the rhythm and passion these artists imparted.
Later on, as RUN DMC, the Fatboys and the likes of LL Cool J brought the first HipHop beats to Europe, Steve Supreme was enraptured even more. From here on out he wanted to know anything and everything about this music style. Nothing was to stop him from listening and moving to the beats around the clock. Steves, from British Guyana descended, father was not surprised that at the age of 11 his son used skateboarding and break dancing as a way to express his feelings.
This all at a time when Steve met DJs in his region, amongst them are some of todays top-notch DJs. For example Dave 202, with whom he still is in close contact with, together they practiced and got their basics down. Unlike Steve, the other DJ's and Dave 202 steered more and more towards house and trance. Steve's heart pounded, as it still does today, for the beats of black music: HipHop, R&B, Funk, Soul, and Ragga.
In 1994 Steve started his apprenticeship as a civil engineering draftsmen. Finally, after his fourth payday, Steve was able to purchase his own equipment. Two Technics turntables and a mixer in his room coerced him unstoppable. Inspired by the influential Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizard Tehodore, DJ Cash Money, Invisible Scratch Piklz, the Beatjunkies or the X-Men, to name a few, Steve Supreme milled his DJ skillz and ambitiously worked on his first tape project (party groove vol 1 & 2). Every penny he had was invested in his music. The record collection that has grown out of that is the pearl in his passion.

After Steve rapt the people on the left Zurich lake side (Nova, Lounge, Manus Bar, Industrie), he continued his musical crusade through Zurich. Noted clubs started booking him for their events and his sound got the party crowd moving at locations such as the Volkshaus, Dynamo, Kaufleuten, Rote Fabrik and Palais X-tra. The people who went to the events and got a chance to witness how Steve enthralled the crowd to party to his beats, know why he was swamped with offers from Zürich's finest clubs from there on out.
Regularly his beats are heard stomping through the club walls at places like Le Bal, K5, Oxa, and UG. Together with DJ Mono, DJ Cut Rogg and DJ Jeronimo, Steve is a member of the Beatfingaz-DJ-Crew: consisting of energetic HipHop-DJs with a lot of musical fineness. The formation of Nezhteil.ch in collaboration with the HipHop group Linktiim allows the DJs to keep Zurich in motion through their own parties and bookings. Performing at known places like the UG, Poolclub and the Roten Fabrik continually attracts a large crowd of people. Nezhteil was responsible for the opening event of the hip hop club Code Club thanks to Steve's connections. Code club is, not only thanks to Steve Supreme, a successful club in Zurich.
Outside of Zurich Steve Supreme is not a nowbody. In the last few years hes been asked several times to play outside of Zurich; Ocean Club and Galvanik in Zug, Palace and Bi-One in St.Gallen, Flemmassiv in Flims, Kuppel and Kaserne in Basel, just to name a few.
The Wädenswiller Manus Bar Lounge went one step further, and gave Steve his own evening. When he's not spinning at the Wheels of Steel himself, he's the one booking the DJ's and managing the evening.
Steve doesnt stop by the border either, spinning the turntables at the German VIVA and Ca Doro clubs. Even at the Pro Skate Challenge 2004, a big event in Munich, Steve was there moving the crowd.
Do or Die
Steve just can't let it be, the year 2006 is packed with promising projects. First of all, the homepage: www.djstevesupreme.ch was launched in the summer of 2005. The homepage will keep on developing in the future, to make it a one of a kind DJ page.
The Beatfingaz are, for over a year now, an officially sponsored DJ crew of Pioneer, Reloop and Ultimate DJ Gear. Alizé, the number one drink of the american rap notables, joined Steve in a partnership in 2006.
Furthermore, he will be busy in organisational issues. Nezhteil, Switzerland's premier event organising team, has opened up doors and created knowledge others can only dream about. Using this knowledge, the label Supremus Sounds will continue to bring you the best in black music, as it has since the spring of 2005. Supremus Sounds is currently resident at the Forecast Bar in Zurich.
Whose World is this?
The answer seems lucid: its Steve Supremes! His continuous DJ career is no where near the end, as a matter of fact, this is only the beginning. While he seems to get more and more sought after, he sees a huge potential in his own events for the future. This deservedly so, Steves got everything that a DJ needs: a broad sound selection, the right DJ-Skillz and a passion that cannot be missed. Additionally, hes a sympathetic and friendly person. No need to mince matters when talking business and music with Steve. Being spontaneous, outgoing, flexible and radiates charm when hes spinning the turntables. He puts people in a voodoo like spell, especially after DJ Cash Money convinced him to host parties at the mic.
Is Steve Supreme yesterdays, todays or tomorrows DJ?
Steve embodies them all. He is influenced by yesterdays music and experiences, and plays at the top clubs today. He brings joy to many clubgoers and lets countless DJs tremble as they approach the still glowing turntables. All in all, hes the DJ of tomorrow, because Steve Supreme has this unbelievable ability to sense what people want to hear, and makes his time at the tables an unforgettable experience for the people moving to his beat.
