About Me

..What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos - that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands - literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable, or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
I have a bit of a checkered past. Name the subculture and I've probably been a part of it. Sketching and painting while listening to new wave, peaking at underground raves, slamdancing into the pole at the old 9:30 club, drinking and fighting with gangs of skinheads, modifying leather jackets with nails and paint, sneaking onto the floor during a ministry concert while in a full leg cast and on crutches, midnight drag races, drunk and disorderly in public, sleeping in nightclubs, fighting with cops, drinking in graveyards, narrowly avoiding shotgun blasts, making "prison style" tattoo guns and inking my friends, contemplating suicide, buying manic panic by the case, running stage lighting and blinding the Misfits on purpose, breaking into abandoned hospitals in the middle of the night, clocking my car at 147 mph on public streets, running pirate radio staions, the list goes on. I don't remember exactly when I "hit the wall", but I have calmed down a lot. I've lived fast and hard, and managed not to die young (I still can't believe that one). I have kept my identity and stayed true to who I am over the years, but I have also gained a lot of wisdom. And while I can't say I'm proud of a lot of the things I've done, I can say that I've done them and grew from the experiences - both good and bad.
I have no interest in having 2500+ friends on myspace, so don't be offended if I do not add you, but frankly if we have absolutely nothing in common, what's the point? I wasn't terribly popular in high school, but have no desire to make up for it on the internet. If you know me, or would like to, just send a message...
