Hmmm, unless we're talkin about recordings, then it's kinda electric and acoustic guit's, 4string bass, percussion, and feebly played keyboard...
And then there's the more professional outtings...where you'll find LOTSA
folks like Richard Pleasance, Mark Eden, Glen King, Barry Cockroft, Claire
Jephson. Extra bods in the homestudio have included Neil Robertson, Paul Booth,
Steve Vella...and the live dudes below:
Tim Downey - drums
Liz Frencham - upright bass
Alex Fricke - lapsteel
Kate Ryan - backing vocals
...amongst a smattering of other ring-ins...
Influences:
...And music / folks / things just i like:
Kate Bush,
Sheryl Crow,
Fleetwood Mac,
Martha Davis,
Carol King,
Ben Folds Five,
" I'll Find My Way Home" (Vangelis)
Motown
Rutger Gunnarsson
ABBA
Garbage
"Video Killed the Radio Star" (The Buggles)
Queen
...oh! I was just thinking about "Bicycle Race". HOW much
FUN is that track? Give me MORE vocals, MORE bells. One
of the best examples of rock-pop. "Grace Kelly" by Mika ain't
bad either (there's nothin' wrong with happy music people)
Muse
Yes
Ben Harper
Joss Stone
William Shatner
Dudley Moore
Howard Bloom
Billy Connelly
Oh! And i really gotta give a big nod to radio 3PBS, fantastic way to
get a musical education.
Sounds Like: "Depends on the song"
Once upon a time someone said "you could put yr songs next to Sheryl Crow's and it wouldn't feel outta place"
I've heard 'rock' i've heard 'folk' (frankly, just because you play a song on an acoustic guitar doesn't make it FOLK)
"Flat On My Face" has a little bit of a Kate Bush thang, another song is a little Lenny Kravitz, I've been told "3 Rooms" has a Beatle-ness. I'm not REALLY chasing any one thing...except a sense of decent song-craft i guess.
