About Me
Born over in London, UK, I'm currently living here in good 'ol Melbourne, Australia. It's now been one year since i completed my studies at the VCA (Victorian College of the Arts), doing my Postgraduate Performance Diploma. I play in various bands, and also as a session musician. Though i mainly work with Rosie Burgess. Performing on a Bridge Electric Red Violin, working with various wah-wah, volume, octave, and delay pedals, Rosie stretches her sound from folk/blues, through to a more roots, hip hop, reggae and gypsy slant. In the band is our newest member, Sam Lohs (Fruit) on harmonies and vocals, and also Pataphysics on trumpet and bass.
We've been playing various gigs around Melbourne town in Fitzroy, Northcote, Brunswick, St Kilda. At venues including Bar Open, The Espy, Drunken Poet, Manchester Lane, The East Brunswick Club, and the Northcote Social Club. We've performed alongside, and supported the likes of Bonjah, Josh Owen, Tin Pan Orange, Austin, Freya Hanley, Ben Lee, and Hussy Hicks amongst others.
We've been the recipient of a Victoria Rocks Grant, touring around Western Australia, Alice Springs, and all up the East Coast. Recently completing Rosie's new album, 'Wait For The World', we've been touring around Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Canberra, Geelong, Torquay, and various other towns, and are now coming to the end of 2008, recently performing at FRL (Folk, Rhythm, and Life Festival), and finishing up at the Woodford Folk Festival. Should be great. If you're around, come check us out and say gday.
Check Rosie Burgess's MySpace for all our gigs !
Also in the pipeworks is a new band of a mix of Irish/Scottish/Folk tunes, merging with a fusion of jazz/blues and break-beats. Plus also various new violin and percussion collaborations, and various events with improvised and pre-recorded sounds, plus works with various composers/sound designers and artists. Stay tuned for more info.
