IT'S NOT MUSIC. IT'S A DISEASE

About Me

Producer, Composer, Guitarist, Sound DesignerBob Daspit began his involvement in the Los Angeles musical community-playing guitar in rock bands as a teenager, and performing on the Sunset Strip. Early in his career he toured with an art-house experimental ensemble, which allowed him to explore various musical sounds and styles. These early experiences were a suitable introduction to sound design, a field Bob would pursue at Roland R&D, Los Angeles. While at Roland, Bob expanded his technical abilities and enhanced his knowledge of musical sounds by developing many new products and sound libraries featured in Roland’s product line.
As his guitar playing grew more refined, Bob found himself in demand as a top session player for such composers as Harry Gregson-Williams, John Powell, and Michel Colombier. Hans Zimmer favored his blistering guitar work on a number of popular films such as Drop Zone, Point of No Return, Broken Arrow, The Rock, and The Fan. In addition to playing guitar on film scores, Bob has also crafted palettes of custom sampled sounds for film composers’ scores. James Newton Howard and Danny Elfman both utilized Bob's sound design skills in several hit films such as Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Sixth Sense, A Civil Action, and Outbreak. Through his film sound design work Bob sampled many of the world’s musical instruments before they became common fare for film composers, from the Egyptian shenai, ney, and ghita to Finland’s kantele, the Turkish kanun, the Indian santoor and even a full orchestra featuring players from the London Symphony Orchestra.
Working with famed virtual instrument maker Spectrasonics Bob edited and finalized custom sounds and loops for Stylus, Trilogy, and the groundbreaking Stylus RMX. These music software titles followed Bob’s own landmark sound libraries, Hans Zimmer Guitars Volumes I and II, two collections that explore the wide range of tones in guitar and other unique stringed instruments.
Bob has produced and engineered Sammy Hagar's last five records and The Long Road To Cabo DVD. As a composer he has created original music for films, animation, and video games including Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, Mission Impossible:2, Terminator: Dawn Of Fate, the cult classic Spy Hunter, and library music for KPM.
Sammy Hagar’s version of Let Me Take You There is Bob’s first charting single that he recorded, mixed, and produced in 2005. Bob hit the charts again this year – this time at No.1 with Sammy’s new single Sam I Am (which Bob also co-wrote). Bob has just finished producing Sammy Hagar’s newly released record, Livin’ It Up, as well as records for upcoming Houston, Texas band Bojones and his own band The Goldbrickers. Bob continues to play guitar and write compositions both individually and collaboratively.
