Looking for Chicago Filmmakers Musicians Dee-Jayz!

About Me

Hey whats up dnbhedz! Strictly Chicago here! Aspiring drum and bass and film score producer looking to collaborate with other producers of film scores and drum and bass either in or out of Chicago! Check my music page out (Top 1 in my Top 40!) or the music page for my kru and I, Occum's Razor (whose page is number 4 in the 40) and hit either page (or both pages) up! Dont forget to hit me up on AIM as well, my screen name there is: violatr76! Biggin' up the Chicago and stateside junglist massive! BOH!
Moving Violationz Drum 'n' Bass Top 5 for January 2008:
1. Dom & Roland - Through The Looking Glass Part 1 (DRPLP001PT1)
This premier chapter in the quadrilogy that is the debut LP from Mr. Angas (and his sampler) on his namesake label shows that you can never keep a good sampler down! Dom proves this on the A side, "Deckard's Theme", combining elements from 3 previous tunes (the windchimey sound effects from "Soundwall VIP", the ridiculously sinister bass stabs from "Just So You Know", and the overall atmosphere from "Chaos Theory") to make what adds up to be one of the best tunes of the year! Add in some gorgeous Vangelis-like strings seemingly mirroring the strings from the score for Blade Runner itself in the intro, and some samples from the movie (including a deliciously evil sample of one of the most sinister pieces of dialogue that Rutger Hauer has ever uttered) and you have what also adds up to the best tune Dom has produced in his career!
2. Tomic & Barracuda - Kill 'Em All (G2 Recordings (G2025))
Coming out of Resonant Evil member Mackie's solid label G2, this smasher 5-way collab gets cinematically punishing right from the get-go with a sample from a movie I can't quite identify that depicts some sort of standoff, and it works to "syckening" effect when combined with brutal amens and the ugliest lead line I've heard in a tune all year so far! Big Up the G2 kru!
3. VA - The Freak Family Drum Circle Explosion LP (Freak Recordings LP001)
Besides Teebee and Calyx's new LP on Momentum, I would have to say that this LP on Dylan's juggernaut label is the best long-player of the year so far, every tune on this one meaning bizness from the get-go, the highlights being Berlin producer Current Value's orgy of over-the-top mosh-music cacophony "Faith", C.V.'s labelmate on Position Chrome Panacea's brutal commentary on the current rave scene "Ravemusic Resurrected" with AC Slater's almost-hilarious (if not timely) spoken-word supplied throughout the entire insidious affair, and last but not least a tune exorcised from the lethal combination of the Wisconsin serial killer kru, Gein, and the Indiana duo of audio destruction, Arsenic, the brooding and infinitely heavy "Bitch"! Ruff and tuff at it's very best!
4. Temulent - Nothing (Ohm Resistance (24KOHM))
Hailing from Chicago, Ohm Resistance stalwart Temulent raises the bar for the brainchild of Submerged by unleashing a monster utilizing a sinister sample of Christian Bale from the late 90's slasher flick, "American Psycho" to full effect, crescendoing into a barrage of tramens guaranteed to put a hole in your chest from the force of it all! One of the Best 12"s of the year!
5. Current Value ft. Snow - Edge of Dreams (forthcoming Section 8 Recordings)
This one sets the standard by which all trancey drum and bass tunes should be judged in the future BARNONE! Frequent collaborator of the one like Current Value, gifted vocalist Snow showcases seductive and infinitely creepy vocals over some of the tranciest atmospheres and nastiest grooves Mr. Value has produced to date! Don't sleep! This one will get you every time!

My Interests

Producing first and foremost film-score types of music and, of course, ear-melting, mind erasing drum and bass!

I'd like to meet:

See: About Me!

Music:

Wow where to start!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Well, I guess my first love would have to be film scores, usually anything produced by Hans Zimmer and anybody he collaborates with (Mark Mancina, Trevor Rabin, James Newton Howard, Steve Jablonsky, Harry Gregson Williams, Klaus Badelt, and the like)! The scores for "Batman Begins" and "The DaVinci Code" are recent Favorites. Broadway musicals like "Phantom of the Opera" are always good too! My second love that I am torn between is ugly, dark, twisted and nasty Drum and Bass / Jungle:

old Renegade Hardware (95 - 98)
Moving Shadow
Metalheadz (93 to 98)...
and, last but nowhere near the least, all my M.I.A. and Combat headz running tingz in Chicago!

...and the list goes on and on, basically anything over 160 bpm that I can shake my ass to! Major props and BIG-UP's to you guyz!

I also recently just reacquired a love for industrial and electro-pop: Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, Assemblage 23, Skinny Puppy, Psychopomps, anything off of Metropolis and old Wax Trax, Depeche Mode, and Recoil. Also very, very into ambient and trip hop, bands like Massive Attack, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Enigma (whose latest, "A Posteriori", I can't get enough of), Delerium, etc., etc.

I am also a musician who has produced film score type material awaiting it to be used in any type of video media! I'm also interested in producing some Dark and nasty dnb in the style of the aforementioned DJ's. Any of you local Chicago dnb producers checkin' my page, WANNA COLLABORATE?!?!?! There's my 10 second promotional speech!

Movies:

Anything John Woo, Michael Bay, Tony Scott, Ridley Scott, or Antoine Fuqua direct! That and anything the aforementioned musical composers score music to! ..

Television:

Don't watch it, think it sucks! Well...I guess maybe I'll watch Sci-Fi! (Painkiller Jane, etc.)

Heroes:

I humbly bow before the altar of the Almighty Musical God Himself, HANS FLORIAN ZIMMER!

Why all the disunity?!?!?! Is there a possible expanation?

I'm seriously concerned about all the division and disunity between "heads" who are supposed to represent the drum and bass community as a whole in the city of Chicago!  I can't say much more tha...
