March 23, 2008 - HOT NEWS from Ben Sage!!!!!
itunes seems to be ready to roll again! Go get the album!
After many months slaving away in the studio, I am pleased to bring you my newest collection of music, the independently released, fantastically diverse, "How the Days Collide" LP. This album is being released worldwide in a Digital Only format. It is available on many popular download sites, including iTunes, eMusic, and Amazon MP3.
As part of my production for this album, I was actively searching out remixes to do. During the search for remix material I found a band called Echostream who offered some vocals for remix. I did a "downtempo" remix of the song called "Just Kill Me" and fully intended to put it on the album, however we didn’t end up reaching a deal on the specific details of the release. Because of this, I am offering the tune for FREE for a limited time. Click the link and grab it! Tell your friends! Just do me a favour and download the album too (preferably from a "legit source") :).
Echostream - Just Kill Me (Ben Sage Downtempo Remix)Liner Notes from "How the Days Collide"
I hope you enjoy my latest creations. Some of these tunes were produced for labels, and never got released, some were made as remix projects for friends, and some I started ages ago and recently picked up and finished. Some are as recent as 2008, and some as old as 2001. Many of these tracks have been tested and proven by prominent DJ’s in recent months. Tracks such as Subsenix - Fiendin’ (Featuring the beautiful and extremely talented Savvy), Brian Abbey & Aaron Simpson - Never Far From Right (Ben Sage Remix), and Rocketface - Blackout (Ben Sage Remix).
Special Thanks go out to Aaron Simpson - thanks for always supporting me by playing and promoting my tunes. Your skills are phenomenal. Also Brian Abbey and Ben XO. Thanks for letting me release "Never Far From Right." Thanks to Subsonik for maintaining my faith in dnb. No matter how popular you become, I guarantee you are still underrated, and thanks to Sudden Def Records for supporting our talents and letting us make the music we want. Thanks of course to Mackie & Gain/Dirty Habits for always supporting me as well. And thanks to everyone who buys my music and supports me! Spread the word!
Look out for more diverse material from me in 2008 / 2009.

Some listeners have suggested that due to the free nature of music in today’s society (soulseek, limewire etc), artists should set up a paypal account to handle payments directly from listeners. Although Ben does not actively condone using peer 2 peer filesharing to aquire his music, He would like to make the option available to his listeners to support him if they see fit. If you feel like directly supporting Ben Sage in his musical endeavours, please forward payments to www.paypal.com using address [email protected] . Thanks for your support!

Born in a quiet small town in canada, Ben Sage’s early exposure to music came by way of punk rock, hip hop, and what was then known as rave or electronica Early works from Artists such as NOFX, Propagandhi, Face 2 Face, Beastie Boys, Common, The Roots, EPMD, Nas, Prodigy, Plastikman, and some other ravey bits. After conquering piano, voice, drums, and guitar, his love of music led him behind the turntables. By the age of 17 he was playing ragga and jump up at his first house party, but he wasnt satisfied simply playing songs made by others.
After declining an acceptance to take english and history at university, and a year of soul searching, Ben decided it was off to college for a music production course. The rock and metal projects he was exposed to at school further intensified his desire to perfect his own sound, and applying his schooling, he began to play with samples on his own time.
It was during his college years that ben released his first single, the breakthrough hit All About You on Gain Recordings. This sweet and trancy vocal roller quickly became a summer anthem of 2003, exploding on dancefloors across uk and worldwide. Knowledge Magazine called it a memorable, feel-good fusion, where the us r&b tint adds a rosy glow to the heavyweight, sci-fi main-play. a slammer.
It has been a steady outpour ing of tunes since that time, including the humongous tune Sleepless featuring the beautiful and talented savvy on vocals, a subsequent VIP remix by Ben himself, and a Resonant Evil remix. The world got a taste of the future early in 2005, when Ben released the smash hit remix Let Me Down originally by Shannon Swain. This bomb was followed shortly after by a 4 track EP released in mid 2005 on Invader Recordings. This EP truly showcased Ben’s incredible diversity by ranging from a wild, percussive ethnic odyssey in "Peace Chant" to smooth rolling vocal charmers in "Just a Minute (featuring the Lovely Savvy on vocals) and everything in between. Following shortly after was the tremendous Remix of his career launching classic, "All about You." Backed with the smashing dancey jumpy tune "Nothing Inside," this single still gets a huge reaction every time it is dropped - at home, or at the club.
So far in 2007 Ben has released his hugely anticipated melodic masterpiece "Geisha." This twisted vocal amen tearout reaches new heights in complex melodic textures and sub-crumbling bass; a characteristic Ben is known for! On the flip side is another steppy greasy danceable tune, called "ReBirth." These releases are currently being sold on a Gain Recordings 12" Vinyl, and will be available for legal mp3 download on www.beatport.com
Also out now, the hot new remix of Gyromite & Subsonik’s "After all" Ben & Subsonik tag-teamed this wicked vocal track into a tranced-out-instant-classic. This release is currently being sold on Cymbalism 12" Vinyl!
Keep your eyes on this space for more information about Ben’s exciting new project with American Trance & Bass Legend Subsonik. Teamed up under the stage name "Subsenix," their unique style is sure to bring huge beats, massive bass, and intricate textures and melodies to drum and bass events worldwide.
Ben owes his success to his own unique brand of drum and bass music. his fresh sound, comprised of rich trancy textures, dirty bass, pounding drums, and hauntingly beautiful vocals, is direct result of his open-minded approach to all styles of music. He enjoys listening to everything from punk to rock to trance, but his true passion lies in drum and bass.
As a DJ Ben’s travels have taken him several places in canada. his stops in 2005 alone include his home town of toronto, as well as Montreal, London, and many others, as well as coast to coast across the southern united states, including notable stops such as Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, San Jose, miami, and several others. Unfortunately in recent years, Ben’s hectic schedule and devotion to capturing his sound in the studio has dictated that accepting DJ gigs is no longer possible.
