Rock Your Head Out!

About Me

Take the Who,Pink Floyd and the Doors and cross them with Yes and King Crimson, add a touch of the Beatles, throw in a good amount of high voltage AC/DC and run it through the atmosphere of Radiohead and you have begun to get an idea of what others have already heard, the familiar yet completely original sound of The Industrial Hippies.
This was a band formed from a shared vision and belief that good music comes from a collaborative process of combining seemingly disparate musical ideas and having the courage to try them without prejudice. In doing so you are able to explore soundscapes that other musical talant has already traveled and in turn create a new offering who's influences are not immediately identifiable but are as familiar as a well worn pair of blue jeans. Herein lies the story and the creation of The Industrial Hippies.
The band consists of Tim Bailey (guitar and vocals), Jerry Bond (drums and vocals), Larry Brewer (bass and vocals) and Dan Vose ( keys and lead vocals). Since forming in late 2002 in Knoxville The Industrial Hippies have become well known regionally for their intimate acoustic sets and bombastic electric shows. They have also traveled as far away as Capetown, South Africa and Maturin, Venezuela to play shows.
The Industrial Hippies are bringing the excitement of progressive rock with the self-aware sophistication of modern rock to the Knoxville scene. Come and catch the excitement with a group that understands the idea of a band as a Rock and Roll family.

Sounds Like: The Industrial Hippies Local CD Review Industrial Hippies (Self-release) With influences ranging from The Who and The Beatles to King Crimson and Radiohead, Knoxvilles own Industrial Hippies have laid a pretty heady foundation for delivering a diverse rocknroll sound. Band members Tim Bailey (guitars), Jerry Bond (drums), Larry Brewer (bass) and Dan Vose (lead vocals, keyboards) have been together in this present incarnation since 2002, but from the look of the cover photo on their self titled release, these guys have been around the block a few times prior.Technically, the group delivers the types of polished chops to be expected from vets obviously doing what they want rather than what they think the audience wants to hear, and the results at times are both substantive and interesting. Guitarist Bailey particularly stands out, seemingly melding every slick, classic picker from Santana to Clapton into his own distinguishable style. Vocally, the quartet harmonizes well.A tonal smorgasbord, the record offers elements of rock and folk; acoustic and electric; jazzy and spacey; mostly composed in diametric counterpoint as to intentionally solicit an emotional response. When it works, it blends together like peanut butter and jelly. Some of the selections are even memorable, with the epic Burn Down invoking images of progressive art rockers like Genesis and King Crimson.
