About Me

I do Middle Eastern ("Belly") Dance and enjoy learning, reading, singing, almost anything involving performing. I dance solo as well as with the troupes Gypsy Mischief and Troupe Zahava, both out of Springfield, IL and have recently joined Nashvegas's newest troupe RaqsStar.

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

My Interests

I really need to learn Cricket

Music:

Patty Page, Neil Young, Queen, Su Su and the Cairo Cats, David Bowie, Beethoven, Elvis Costello, The Ramones, Ryan Adams, Butch Walker, The Clash, Pat Benatar, Hary Saroyan, Solace, Tarkan- sometimes, Tom Petty, Anberlin, Squad Five-O, Thornton, The Kick, One 21, Rooney, Even in Blackouts, Hank Williams Sr., Jamie Cullum, Resident Genius, The Deadlines, Hot Hot Heat, The Juliana Theory, NIL8, MU330, The Huntingtons, Flogging Molly, The Jane Hartman Trio, Riverboat 5 Plus One, Phonocaptor, Jesse Malin, Squirtgun, Cake Bake Betty, Femme Fatality, Johnny Cash, Marah, Adam and Dave's Bloodline, Hot Vegas, Mike Borgia, The Class of 98, Justin Lomery, Hey- Revolution!, Ben Folds, Park, Beck, The El Camino, etc, etc, etc... I F-ing hate The Timmys.

Movies:

Me Without You and Lagaan are my absolute favorite movies- watch them! Asoka, Finding Neverland, Pride & Prejudice (all versions), Gross Pointe Blank, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Bride & Prejudice etc... I like most anything as long as it doesn't partonize the audience too much- anything Bollywood is a definate plus!

Television:

Gilmore Girls, MythBusters, World Biker Build Off and my grudginly admited adictions: Project Runway and America's Next Top Model. I also can't turn away from Law & Order if I happen to catch the first thirty seconds (SVU and CI only, not the original).

Books:

I was raised reading- my mother would often catch me in the closet reading until 4am on school nights with towels stuffed around the door to try and keep escaping light from tipping her off. I would get yelled at and told to go to bed and the next morning I would desperately try and stay home from school because I was tired and otherwise not feeling well. I wonder why my mother never believed me... I still have an indescribably hard time putting a book down and not finishing it in one sitting. Interesting side note- I was unable to learn to read until the very tail end of second grade. I will not go into the whole story here but it is a good one. Ask me and I will tell it. That said: I am in love with the writing of C.S. Lewis and Jane Austin. Also enjoyable: The Other Boleyn Girl, The Queen's Fool, Harry Potter, Body Control Pilates, The Rock and Roll Rebellion, The Count of Monte Cristo, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, T.S. Elliot, Lord Byron, Ruth Souther, Homer, Pink Think, there are so many I am having a hard time coming up with names... Novels mainly but if it is written well I will read it. Right now I am trying to make my way through some old and new classics. On my list are The Bell Jar, Crime and Punishment, the Vedas, and a cookbook or two.

Heroes:

Joan Cusack

My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Many of the reviews for this movie were mediocre, which was giving the movie too much sympathy in my oppinion. I don't walk out of movies but found this one almost impossible to sit through; at PG-13 ...

Yet again, more true happenings

1. The grown man skipping down the sidewalk. Excuse me, not just skipping but pumping his arms and I believe whistling. Think 25-27, hipster and trying to be cool yet asured enough in his status to sk...

True happenings I wish I had pictorial evidence of

1. The old man who looks exactly like Colonel Sanders (including moustache, white suit, bolero tie, white hair, and cane- as I imagine Sanders would use). He walks up and down 6th street in Springfiel...

Yet another reason I should never be allowed to read books.

I identified a little too well with the heroine of The Bell Jar. Such a great book and it left me in cold sweats (figuratively) because the period of life being chronicled is right where I am- last ye...

They're SAFE!

Springfield is pulling together to restore to one piece the town icons that were destroyed in a tornado two weeks ago. Aparently the Lauterbach Tire Man (a.k.a. the giant Paul Bunion statue) is gettin...

Halloween Costume

I have had an idea for a Halloween costume that would be amazing but would also well qualify as heretical: Imagine someone dressed up as Jesus with several people dressed as Pharasees chasing J. aroun...
