About Me

Michael Fugate was born in Pennsylvania in 1951. He lived an incredible life. He attended the Philadelphia Music Academy before he was even twenty years of age. He was a trumpet virtuoso, playing in the Stevie Wonder Band, The Ray Charles Band, Malo, Boz Scaggs and many others. Music was his life. He performed at Jimi Hendrix's funeral, and was even in the studio with John Lennon and Mick Jagger at one point. He married Virginia Fugate and decided to leave his music career behind in the hopes of having a stable family life. He became an electronics engineer, and had a daughter, Corinna, in 1981. But he never gave up his love of music, and he wrote, and recorded a gospel album entitled "I Will Glorify Him". Michael Fugate was a devoted husband and father, a good family man. He loved his wife and daughter very much, and was a wonderful father. Being a father was where he shined. He was the world to his little girl. He took her to London and Paris. He took her to a Bonnie Raitt concert when she was nine, and introduced her to Bonnie Raitt. He gave Corinna a porcelain doll each Christmas morning. He wrote a song for his wife Virginia, and his daughter, Corinna entitled "Song For Two Ladies." In February of 1994, his life was taken abruptly in an accident at his work, and many hearts were broken. He was loved, cherished and is missed. This is his memorial page.
