Steve Kenzo

About Me

Stefan Burgerhout living in Hillegom (the Netherlands), better known with his artist name Steve Kenzo. This boy born on the 6th of January 1981 was on a young age always busy with sound and music. At the age of 10 he got ProTracker on his Amiga. This is where his first music and sounds came like magic out of his computer, from that moment music was a part of his life.
On a age of 14, he started to spin records. A year later he got booked for his first party in the local disco. Spinning at that location did he for a couple of years. After those years he found a new kind of music than the hardcore where he did started with. This new kind of music was techno and this is what he still spins. Techno is in his hart. As a techno dj he could be more innovative. The first effect equipment came on the market and bought the Pioneer efx500. He could do so much more than only mix records. People loved his way of spinning records, always tried to be innovative. He could do more than only spinning one track to another. Scratching, sampling and effects. Creativity and feeling is what he want to give to the audience when he is on stage. As a DJ he got his own special style, inspired by his former favorit DJ, Dave Clarke.
Steve Kenzo played at a lot of parties. The small ones and the bigger once. He has never played at a real big party, but that is a goal where he is working hard for at the moment. His biggest party was in the Talent room of a big party organisation (Q-Dance). This was a big festival named Defqon1 festival with about 20.000 people. After a couple of years spinning records Steve Kenzo was looking for a new challenge. Live!
Steve Kenzo is really busy with producing. He is doing it al a long time, but sinds the last six years he is doing it really seriously. His music style is between progressive and techno. Beautiful synths and soundscapes and energetic rhythms will drag you through a journey within his music. You will here a lot of detail in his tracks. He released his first track on the Underground Liberation label with his good friend Greg Martini. This track is call: Greg Martini & Steve Kenzo The Software Generation 1.2
In december 2006 Steve kenzo will release 4 tracks at a great label from Rotterdam, Work Hard Play Hard. This label is from Paul Hazendonk.
2007 has started really well for steve, he signed at offshore dance. His first full EP will be released very soon. He choose the best tracks for this major release. Offshore dance has multiple labels, but he will release on Klopfgeist records most of the time. Keep this label and offshore dance in mind, you will hear more this year!
These days Steve Kenzo will be on stage with his live set. He will use for this performance Ableton with a couple of controllers to keep the music rolling. His vision of live performing is very simple. Live like a live set is meant. No pre-programmed scenes, but with a lot of loops of his own tracks creating new sounds live on stage. Editing sounds, manipulate his loops to make the people going crazy on the dancefloor. This is what he had missed as a DJ, now he can really get his maximum creativity out of his music.
