About Me

"IF I TRY TO SEIZE THIS SELF OF WHICH I FEEL SURE, IF I TRY TO DEFINE AND SUMMARISE IT, IT IS NOTHING BUT WATER SLIPPING THROUGH MY FINGERS..." Albert Camus
Born: I fell out a Leo - Without a Silver Spoon - pacifist - July '78, and apparently blue and with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck, or so i have recently been informed (!?!).
ABOUT ME:
1. the nominative singular pronoun, used by a speaker in referring to himself or herself. –noun 2. (used to denote the narrator of a literary work written in the first person singular).
3. Metaphysics. the ego.
I like to make sounds with things that have 6 strings - mostly - sometimes loudly in public, sometimes quietly away from dark rooms filled with ears and eyes...
I too believe consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
Hmm.
Me...
Sometimes, but rarely, misanthropic...
At times laconic - although this page is certainly not...
Up to four musical projects on the boil at anyone time.
I play Guitar in 'Tin Dogs' (myspace/tindogs) And a Uk Clash Tribute 'London Calling' (www.london-calling.info)and (myspace/londoncallingclashtribute) - check out the links on the friends list below.
COOl QUOTES I LIKE:
"I'm a little scarred but then again who isnt?!"
"Living is easy with eyes closed misunderstanding all you see."
"What The Public don't know they can't reject."
"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth."
"Gravity keeps my head down - or is it maybe shame? - At being so young and being so vain."
"It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder..." Bertrum Russell.
.. I hate 'tests'. Especially tests on animals. Hmm...
Though this one wasnt forced upon me. I 'scored' as a Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. Apparently im a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organised religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves.
I am also apparently very spiritual, even if i'm not religious.
True.
Life has a meaning outside of the rational.
True.
Eh? But i pretty much live my life within reason and Rationilism?!
Hmmm am i a walking condradiction then also - partly truth and partly fiction?!

What is Your World View?
created with QuizFarm.com
Thats pretty much it.
No its not - theres more than meets the eye - just too much to squeeze in here.

My Interests

LIFE, LOVE AND BEAUTY.
SAUDADE...
TIN DOGS!!!
LONDON CALLING!!!
DONNA - (That lass from Hull who gives me vertigo, she is too cool for words, and quite frankly beautiful) and her Maca Cheese - I do love home made Maca Cheese!
Intimacy...
Romance...
The above three all at the same time!
Guinness.
Thinking - way too much at times for my own good I fear!
Sight and sound.
Touch, taste and smell.
Colour.
Behavior.
Passionate people.
Existentialism.
The Myth of Sisyphus.
Art - in any form.
The human body - physiology.
Decent human beings.
Marxism especially neo-marxism.
Good tunes regardless of genre.
Playing in bands.
Menwith Hill - Area 51 -Places that don't appear on maps...
Tattoos - only certain types though eg pretty unique to the individual eg custom stuff that represents something - i dont have a fixation but i do have three...er and want one more...
Living for pleasure not pain!
Vintage guitar gear - I confess to being a bit of a train spotter about it at times but usually dislike having conversations about it with people...primarily cos they usually turn out to be self opinionated tossers who can't agree to disagree...
Tape echo/delay units(See above).
Subversives.
Politicians i dislike such as John Prescott - for example, only a politician could 'get away' with 'assaulting' another individual with two clear 'jabs', not be charged OR convicted AND still keep his job?!!!!! - and these are the types of people who run our 'OUR' country?
It worries me!

I'd like to meet:

My Twin - if i had one.
Sometimes everybody.
Sometimes nobody(!).
Passionate people.
Maybe you - all you have to do is ask.
I have a sister - i'd like to meet her more often than i do.
People who have enough self awareness to not take their shit out on others - they create a decent society.
Everyone with the same kind of certain aspects of open mindset.
Also:
NICK CAVE and ALL of The Bad Seeds and The Dirty Three - Especially Warren Ellis - when I hear him play - Wow (Jaw Drops...)- especially live - Intense.
Bowie.
Andy Gill - The Gang Of Four.
Karl Marx, Martin Luther King, Joe Strummer(Though obviously these three are dead - but still!). Mick Jones for (More than 60 secs!) Paul Siminon, Topper Headon, Terry Chimes.
Will Sargent and Ian McCulloch,
Johnny Cash if he was still alive - got turned on to his stuff again after hearing his version of 'One', and 'The Mercy Seat' - powerful stuff.
Jimmy Page - Genius. Not just cos of his playing-which was (or maybe still is)so outside the box at times, its just well, frankly obviously inspiring-but as a man who has seen so much er but also for the Crowley connection cos thats pretty interesting. Not that im into black magic but well its - interesting. Hmm though he did accept an mbe(or was it obe or summut?)and i like many am pretty anti royalist-but it was for his charity work so he does obviously deserve recognition-just not from 'her' or 'them.' I cant help but want to not contribute(approx even 53p a year as it was once worked out at.)to keep some upper class individual in the life that they have unfairly been given(or have taken)and become accustomed to. We didnt vote them in did we? 'Just like the Conquistadors - they took their 'share''...
Have met Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order-If you didnt know that then you really have missed it-the point that is.)and Mick Jones again (The Clash - same applies!)and they seem like nice blokes.
Tony Wilson.
Mark Thomas.
Dick Lucas(subhumans).
Banksy.
Lyricists that are the true 'modern' poets such as:
Nick Cave.
Neil Young - After The Gold Rush blows me away every time I hear it for "I was thinking about what a friend had said and I was hoping it was a lie..." (Slight lump in throat.)
Roger Walters for 'Wish you were here' - "Did they get you to trade, your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees - hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change - and did you exchange, a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" - Beautiful.
Don Mclean - American Pie(though over played)but truly for Vincent - "They could not listen, for they did not know how...they're not listening still - perhaps they never will."
Gil Scott Heron - For giving out 'Home Is Where The Hatred Is' and 'The Bottle' - Dark words but so honest, also 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.' - He also said: "Hell, i aint got no money - but whiteys on the moon!" Excellent stuff!
Morrissey-for example "I feel so ashamed because ive only got two hands."
"For we maybe hidden by debt, but weve something they'll never have - this one is different because it is ours!"
"For who is truly rich and who is truly poor..?"
"Hang the DJ, for the music they constantly play for IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE!"
"Its so easy to laugh, its so easy to hate - it takes strength to be gentle and kind."
although i dont particularly agree with his 'favour' of his representations and images of 50's Britain - my perception of that period seems a tad repressive.
WHO I DONT LIKE TO MEET:
ME! - id probably annoy the shit out of myself!
Seriously:
PEOPLE WHO GET THEIR LIVES FROM THE PAGES OF A MAGAZINE!
Aggressive people. People who sneer or mock.
Tick box people. Backstabbers. Fakes.
Martyrs.
People who dont deal with their own issues or inadequacies and try to push them on to other people-People who try to rationalise there own selfishness by laying blame on other people. I, shall we say 'dislike', people who take their shit out on others. Two faced individuals. People with hidden agendas.
Hmmmmm......
ME:
If you dont keep kicking, how are you gonna stay afloat?
Know your rights.
Life is for living - i kinda believe in Karma and also that too much reflection can be a bad thing - so is not the best way to predict the future, to create it yourself?

Music:

Like anyone could list everything that ever turned or switched them on.
Yawn.....
A small sample from the list that will quite possibly never end:
Obviously THE CLASH, THE SMITHS, MORRISSEY, JOY DIVISION, NICK CAVE.
Lyrics by a band called CRASS and also SUBHUMANS - Check out their lyrics, for The Pen IS far mightier than the sword!
NINA SIMONE!, Arab Strap, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Kate Bush, The BRMC, Johnny Cash, The Cure, Elvis Costello, Fleetwood Mac - Mostly for the blues years but also for the post-Peter Green Album 'Rumours' which is ace - Golddust Woman is amazing - "Take your Silver Spoon and dig your grave..." - Wow, Miles Davis, Nick Drake, The Dream City Film Club, ELVIS, I AM KLOOT!, Led Zep, Massive Attack, The Moody Blues for Go Now, The Movement, Nine Inch Nails - 'The Day The Whole World Went Away', 'Hurt' and 'Something I Can Never Have' are quite frankly mind blowing, Pete Roe - Bristol Singer songwriter who really cuts it live, Pink Floyd for Dark Side and Wish You Were Here - Real Poetry, Placebo, Portishead, Polvo, Primal Scream, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, The Rolling Stones,Skunk Anansie, Spiritualized, The Stranglers, Subhumans, Stretch - For 'Why did you do it', TINDOGS!!!! U2 - but only for stuff like 'With or with out you.' The Verve for A Northern Soul, The Who, T-Rex for The Children of the Revolution, Nina Simone, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley (Who doesnt?-Concrete Jungle is a tune. 'No chains around my feet but im not free...'), also anything that makes the hair on the back of my neck really stand on end - I LOVE REAL SOUL AND MOWTOWN too, ala Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes etc etc. Also love Gillian Welsh - Check out the 'Revelator' and 'Hell Amongst The Yearlings' albums - Beautiful. Also really love The Beatles 'Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver' albums but then again who doesn't? And a million more - the list goes on and on - Echo and The Bunnymen, for 'THE KILLING MOON' still is and will quite possibly always be one of my all timers...yes its quite dark, but it has its place. Anything that does something or anything to me and that presses my buttons in just the right way.

Das Experiment-For its wake up call to question 'Power' and the abuse it can bring.
One Flew Over The Coo coos Nest (Yeah n i know its from the book, but its so educational and so damn gripping its upsetting.)
Shine.
An Inconvenient Truth - Take notice, for we are killing our planet and we MUST stop!
More recently - Pans Labyrinth - for the re-showing the tragic real human cost Fascism has, why it must always be defeated!
Misc Chillers also eg some Steven King stuff.
Live DVDs.

Television:

THE BEST YEARS OF YOUR LIFE THEY WANT TO STEAL - AND THEY WILL...BUT ONLY IF YOU LET THEM!
I despise trash 'Big Brother' style T.V - for me its vile, boring, desperate and meaningless! - Has entertainment really come to this?! - I'd rather stop watching and do something with my life rather than waste it overdosing on mind numbing electrons.
So T.V? Not much - it keeps one from being productive.
If i do watch its more than likely to be Channel Four news or Question Time, or more recently nature progs.
THE PUBLIC WANTS WHAT THE PUBLIC GETS!
And we have to pay for a licence to recieve it and to be subjected to it?! Yeah - for obviously that is truly 'free' speech eh? (Free-double meaning-geddit?! Oh never mind then...)

Books:

The Dictionary.
John Peels Autobiography - by far The most amazing non boastful person ive ever known of - Damn shame he's no longer with us.
Biographys - Far, far too many to mention.
The Dice Man.
The Outsider by Albert Camus.
Veronika desides to die.
The Silver sword - Yes its a kids book.
Mr Nice.
'Blueprint for a sane society' by George Frankl.
Freud stuff on the 'id'.

Heroes:

Hero:A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
Hmm...should myspace not ask of 'Heroines' also?
Heroes or just very special people as someone once said?
SO INSTEAD...WHO I RATE:
My best 'unbeaten brother' Joe Tin Dog,
John Peel,
Joe Strummer,
Nick Cave,
Karl Marx,
Frederiech Engels,
Albert Camus,
Anne Frank,
Nina Simone,
Martin Luther King,
Gandhi,
George Frankl,
Freud,
Wilde,
Shakespeare,
Bertrand Russell,
Steven Fry,
Dick Lucas (Subhumans),
Banksy,
Open, honest positive people.
My band mates - we understand each other...
My new house mates!!! - Faye, Monica and Tash - for being such nice accepting people - They are ace! Cheese but true...ah bless eh!
People who walk the street.
Marx especially though - For wanting to get rid of authority over others -People who want authority want power - ask yourself WHY they want power, why not have equal 'empowerment'?
What ever happened to those 'heroes'-like Leon Trotsky?
He got an ice pick in his head.

My Blog
