About Me

My name is Larry Mitchell and I am a tribal member of the Great Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation that lives in Northeast Kansas. I grew up there 'till I dropped out of high school and went into the army. I served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. I wrote a book about my tour of duty in Vietnam and the years that followed when I struggled with PTSD. My book can be ordered thru paypal...Twenty-five years ago, I settled down and I married the most beautiful woman in Ojibwe Country and we now live in Minnesota with our two sons! My Interests

Reading & Writing.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to play 18 holes of golf with Sean Connery. I'd like to drink a cup of coffee with Bob Dylan at Starbucks. I'd like to go to a bookreading by Kurt Vonnegut and then have him autograph his 1969 anti-war novel "Slaughterhouse Five"...but realistically I'd like to go and meet my brothers at this year's gathering and hang out with them!

Music:

poetry music...Bob Dylan, Katie Melua, John Trudell, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Buggin Malone, and Martha Redbone.

Movies:

PowWow Highway & those ole Clint Eastwood spaghetti-western movies.

Television:

The cartoon: Danger Mouse.

Books:

"Stories of the Potawatomi" by Gary Mitchell, and any of the books by Ana Castillo, Vine Deloria Jr, Celine, Hamsun, or Thomas Mann.
