About Me

Carmine Street is the latest collaboration for New York City songstress Kelly Padrick and her songwriting partner/producer Nancy Hess. It is their second journey together, writing and creating songs from the past and present, reconciling feelings of lost love and the sense of hurt and betrayal.
Sexy sonic pop songs abound on Carmine Street, from the fun and bouncy “Girl On;” to the country inspired “Pledge of Love;” to the sad lonely drug world of “Start Clean;” to the intense driving disco beats of “How.”
States Kelly, “I Still” and “How” were written last year when my boyfriend and I were going through a very crazy time…. “I Still” is my love song to him … That he’s everything in the world to me and I miss him … “How” is our unhealthy obsession with each other, and how could he mistreat me. At times, it was extremely frustrating for me. We’re still friends though, and he was a beautiful inspiration. All the songs on Carmine Street are special in their own way, particularly “Earth” because I lost someone I loved. Writing is what keeps me sane, and it’s actually the best way for me to express my feelings, which is pretty hard for me to do.”
In the three years since Kelly and Nancy have teamed up, one senses it was the beginning of something special. “Pizza and Fairytales,” a song from Kelly’s CD Haze, appeared in the 2006 Fox Searchlight movie Trust The Man starring Julianne Moore and David Duchovny. Kelly was also featured on the movie soundtrack.
Kelly just completed her second video, “Girl On,” with Patricia Chica, an award-winning director, producer and visual artist who specializes in innovative drama and conceptual music videos. The video “Start Clean” was their first video together and was a great experience. “Patricia is amazing… talented and beautiful and so fun to work with!” says Kelly, “She is not only my director but a great friend as well.”
Kelly has been featured in the UK rock magazine Fireworks as well as The NY Post and is gaining media attention stateside. She has been writing since the age of five and has toured the east coast, hosting open mikes and collaborating with numerous musicians, here in NYC and most recently Los Angeles.
“I love New York,” says Kelly, “It always inspires me to be open, creative and true to myself. I doubt I’ll ever leave.”
Carmine Street will be available April 2nd through Amazon, iTunes and CDBaby.
