DJ AKi is the main DJ of Dublab Productions(DLP).DLP is one of the main driving forces of the japanese drum'n'bass scene.DLP is also gaining credibility for his procuctions for Womb in Tokyo and thereby creating several of the various hybrid cultures that are emerging in Tokyos underground dance scene.
DJ AKi started to play drum'n'bass when he began his work at the "Breakbeat Science (one of New Yorks finest drum'n'bass record stores) in 1996. He became the resident DJ for Science Lab at the New York's legendary venue TWILO in 1998.
DJ AKi returned to Japan in 2001 and began the monthly party, 06S, with himself as the resident DJ at WOMB, and has gained popularity through his original hard and cyber style drum'n'bass that many UK DJs are also credited into drum 'n' bass scene in Japan. In 2002, DJ AKi released his first vinyl, "Always/MK (DJAKi+TKO REMIX)", which reached the US Top 10 Drum 'n'bass chart.
He is now producing tracks with the newly established es9 unit along with YUUKI (dublab) and TAKEO (dublab),and has released Musica/Laura Liza (es9 Remix) which was included on the collaborated hybrid culture box,0602TYO, produced by 06S and Nike. "es9" has been working on their various new productions including "Free Your Mind/ es9" that is currently shaking the dance floor in Tokyo. DJ AKi also has released the first mix CD in Japan, "New Type Drum+Bass 06S" in 2004, and his impeccable skills on decks were well perceived by many music lovers all over the nation.
DJ AKi made his first appearance in London in 2003, and performed at Movement, which is one of the best parties in London, with DJ Marky from Brazil. DJ Aki achieved his first appearance in Brazil at BMF 2004 and his DJ style was warmly welcomed by many Brazilian junglists.
He also attended SKOLBEATS in Sao Paulo in April 2005,where his high energy and outstanding talent as a DJ made a huge impact. These 2 gigs made big impression on the worldwide drum 'n' bass scene.
His DJ MIX achieved a remarkable 10.000 hits within a month on the Drum'n'Bass ARENA, the worlds biggest Drum'n'Bass site.For the WOMB WORLD WIDE Project in 2006 , DJ AKi and KEN ISHII flew to the tour in Brazil and performed at Brazil's top clubs WARUNG und SIRENA.
In the Spring 2006, he started Tokyo Original Drum 'n' Bass label "06S RECORDS".It kicked off with first release "FREE YOUR MIND"with a remix by D-BRIDGE.It is now one of the anthem tunes on the scene. Second release "LET IT GO" with Futurebound remix isdue to be released in August. Third single "INTERSTELLA ODYSSEY" produced collaborating with SONIC is due on March 2007. This will be followed by another release of “CONSTANTLY WARM†from SPACE RECORDINGS and also “ACCELERATOR†is going to be recorded in the compilation â€FUTURE SOUNDOF TOKYO†from HOSPITAL.These tracks from 06S have caught the eyes of the world musicscene and they have already been thoroughly played by the worlds leading DJs such as by ANDY C , DJ MARKY and ED RUSH.
DJ AKi’s contributed his exclusive MIX CD for collaboration with the â€GARCIA MARQUEZ†today’s leading female fashion brand in Japan. 10,000 MIX CD were given away amongst in Japan. This Brazilian-flavored MIX CD reflects diverse influenced and inspirations that he had from various places and events and heading to next exploration to the new frontier. This MIX CD resulted in great success not only in Japan but worldwide. and took him to next level. In December 2006, “06SPACE MIXED by DJ Aki†will be released in iTunes store directed by NIKE
Mixing the uplifting Hard'n'Cyber DJ style and the mellow'n'sleek lounge DJ set, DJ AKi keeps entrancing the crowd. Recognized as one of the Leading Drum'n'bass DJs from the worlds club scene and is currently recieving much attention for his current activities and future plans.
