Livalect the Healer, aka Fya Rebel

About Me

Livalect , or "Liv", has been making conscious music in the Boston area for the past 7 years. For most of that time he worked as a hip-hop artist with a reggae-influence, until 3 years ago when he decided to pursue his passion for reggae music due to his disillusionment with the hip-hop community. A long time devotee of Haile Selassie I, Livalect always favored reggae music but had kept his distance due to his American upbringing. However after living in Jamaica and reasoning with cultural icons such as Mutubaruka, Tony Rebel, Yasus Afari and Queen Ifrika, Livalect's relationship to Jamaica, Rastafari and reggae music became a lifelong commitment.Myspace BackgroundsLivalect has just released two new singles to kick of 2007. "Warmonger" is the first release on the brand new "World War Riddim" produced by Glen Grant of Boston's own Masspyke Productions (also a member of The Ghetto People Band and Dubstation). "Warmonger" is an anti-war anthem- a biting critique of the Bush Administration, the War In Iraq and American Neo-Imperialism with catchy horns and a bubbling bass line in the tradition of the classic riddims of Studio One. _____________ Give Thanks to all those who came out to a night called...LIKKLE DRAW! _______________ "Keep Praisin"by Livalect is the second track to be released on the brand new "Troddin Riddim". On "Keep Praisin" Livalect demonstrates his firm commitment to Rastafari and his passionate drive to defend the faith at all costs, exhibiting no pity for those who refuse to honor King Selassie I, and threatening to "dun dem out like Santa Claus". Livalect's steady delivery and varied melodies on this track have drawn comparisons to the German-based, international reggae artist Gentleman.Liv has gained a strong reputation through his performances all over Boston, most recently at Bill's Bar and The Western Front-performing such hits as "Box Babylon", "Elevate Yaself" and "Different From Dem". His passionate delivery and original lyrics make this Rasta youth one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the recent revival of roots and culture in reggae music. Check the new tracks and leave a comment! _________________OPENIN FOR MORGAN HERITAGE AT CLUB LIDO'S
