Mack Dennis is a retired radio producer/announcer. He is also an award winning poet/actor. He is a six-time poetry slam champion. He performed his one-man show, ‘Raising Sane’ at the Oakland Metro Theater and Café Van Kleef in December 2005, the Berkley Marsh and the Oakland public library in 2006. He is a spoken word fellowship winner of the Oakland Cultural and Arts Department, and received a grant from the city of Oakland to perform his one-man show, ‘Raising Sane’. Mack has written three chapbooks of poetry and recorded a spoken word CD of his work. He has shared the page and stage with poetry greats such as Sonia Sanchez, Amiri Baraka, and Saul Williams. His favorite appearances however are meeting with young people at public schools and universities, and inspiring them in workshops to express themselves through poetry and spoken word.
