About Me

first & foremost (hey, LOOK! it's a LINK!)

I AM FOLLOWING MY FISH .

I am busy & mysterious & more shy than I ought to be. I ought to be many things that I ain't but I AM many unexpected things to make up for this. I'm up to my elbows in photographs , & you love it.

i hate where i live, i love where i've been, i live for another day.

i hate it when the lawnmowers congregate below every window. should i be scattering cake & coins or some such? would that make them go away?

lately i've been working specifically on portraits -- can i take yours?

My Interests

FEED MY FISHIE!

adopt your own virtual pet!

Again, in no particular order: sky-watching, my cat, meaningful relationships, great stories, charming dialogue. Photographs. Absurdly extensive archiving of my own interior dramas (really, who is ever going to read a steamer-trunk full of journals?), which, if you know me at all, definitely includes you. Wine, houseplants, really nice pens, the fine art of flirtation, the unexpected. Currently I'm very interested in doing something worthwhile with my life, but I'm also very interested in being lazy. I wasn't meant to work, I was meant to host parties. Aha! I am now very interested in a time machine to take me to 19th century Paris where I may have a salon & people call me "Lady So-and-so".

I'd like to meet:

In no particular order: Abraham Lincoln, Scarlett O'Hara, & Tim Burton (who can introduce me to Johnny Depp). Jeanette Winterson, Jon Stewart, Michael Ondaatje, Terry Pratchett, Henri Cartier-Bresson, whoever runs National Geographic, Dave McKean. Also [fill-in-the-blank founder of fill-in-the-blank religion] & maybe Syd Barrett for laughs. I'd like to meet my father again. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Gilliam, Lennon & Lenin, Bill Murray, John Crichton, Beck, Eddie Izzard. Audrey Hepburn. The man my grandmother knew who saved Jewish children during World War II by hiding them in a Catholic school whose name I'm not sure of, but it had to do with the naming of the Kir Royale. Julia Child, Viggo Mortensen, C. S. Lewis, Allen Ginsberg, T. S. Eliot, Sam Vimes, Haruki Murakami, Roger Waters, Hunter S. Thompson, Napoleon's wife Josephine, Wyatt Earp's wife Josephine. One of my ancestors (or all of them, I got time). Cohen the Barbarian, Gandalf, Miyazaki, Robert Heinlein, James Joyce (to have a drink with & hit over the head with Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man). Someone with a private beach (or island) who won't mind if I bring my boyfriend to visit. Chloe Sevigny, Scarlett Johanssen, Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, Jack Kerouac, Yoda, Zach Braff, Neil Gaiman, Aleister Crowley, Andre the Giant, Williams Shakespeare, Shatner, & Blake. Kenneth Branagh, Jimmy Carter, Nick Cave, Harry Potter, Thom Yorke, Judy Blume, Beethoven, JK Rowling, Obi-wan, Vasari, Alan Cumming, Walt Whitman. Mel Blanc, Robin Williams, John Cleese, Penn & Teller, Jim Henson. Vash the Stampede. David Bowie, so i can keep him tied up under my bed with ribbons. Yoko Kanno, Annie Liebovitz, Picasso, Sigmund Freud, Umberto Eco, the real King Arthur, the cosmonauts on Mir. Characters i knew once to learn what they've become since. People with whom I can make beautiful conversations. Etcetera.
