About Me
COVENTRY
Fancy Nancy are 4 of Coventry's finest rockers brought together by a love of music and good times. Started in the edge of the city the band has seen a couple of lineup changes that has brought the current one together. This unit is stronger than any before and will make you believe that rock and roll is not dead with a unique brand of rock and metal know simply as Cock Metal, BE PREPARED TO RUN LIKE FUCK!!!
Wurzul -Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
A 1987 Taurean Coventry kid. Chris, like Lee formed Fancy Nancy with Rich, Dave , Robbie and Lee way back in the hazy lazy summer months of secondary school. Chris is the self confessed Vodka Monster of the band, hardly surprising then to discover his influences lie firmly amongst the likes of Slash, Lydon and Bowie. The joker in the pack, Chris displays a sharp sense of humour and can be relied upon to raise the spirits (literally) when the need arises. Proudly wielding his cheap Epiphone Les Paul, Chris provides the backbone of the rhythm guitar role, throwing in occasional lead solo’s and of course lead and backing vocals, sharing the position of frontman with Lee since Dave’s departure as singer in January 2007. Chris has a wide and varied taste in music, from Rush to Sabbath and his passion for the art is second to none. Currently studying for a degree in TV production and stuff and working part time as a suspended garden centre floor assistant… Now that’s Rock & Roll…..
The Tank- Lead Guitar and Vocals
A 1985 Sagittarian, Coventry born & bred. Lee has been with Fancy Nancy from Day 0, working with Rich, Dave, Chris and Robbie since those happy schooldays when the only thing that mattered was how to swap 10 pogs for a go on your mate’s missus. Lee is heavily influenced by the nastier side of rock, boasting Metallica, Guns, Pantera and Trivium as his favourite CD pile. With the appearance of an all-stars American Wresting contender it’s quite a shock when you discover Lee’s attention to detail and immaculate delivery of a particularly complicated lead riff, quite the ‘gentle giant’ of the band (but you can tell him…) Along with a collection of around 5 guitars (no rubbish either….. we’re talking Jacksons for Gods’ sake), his aspirations toward the James Hetfield heights are not unrealistic. He enjoys the uncanny ability to just “know†what sounds right… and more importantly…. how to play it. Lee also provides lead and backing vocals to the Fancy Nancy output. Lee is currently working as a warehouse (not Whorehouse like Rich put it) Forklift driver and proudly despises every minute of it. Fair play….
Somers - Bass
As a 1983 Coventry Libran, ( that’s ‘Libran’, not ‘Librarian’ as will become clear) Rich or “Splash†(long story) is the most senior of Fancy Nancy. Musically, Rich was involved in an earlier project, The Grenadines, who enjoyed brief success with potential signings…. But it wasn’t to be, and the band slowly went their separate ways. Two of the Grenadine line-up went on to form the embryo of Fancy Nancy. This being Rich and Dave Lowe (Lowie). Influenced by the likes of Primus and Rage against the machine, Rich works the Bass closely with the drums and provides a solid base on which to build a tune. Rich holds the professional title of Teaching Assistant, which isn’t at all bad considering his dyslexia. Some say that no-one told him that he’d actually left school….. so he just kept turning up until they found him something to do. So… perseverance really does pay off. Other strings to his Bass (get it…?) are his love of photography, like he has his own camera and everything!!! And he is actually a trained and fully tooled up tattoo artist. So there you go. Teacher, photographer, bass player and tattoo artist… as long as you know how to spell what you want on your forearm!!!
The Jott - Drums
Full title…. King Amanjot Singh Sidhu the First. The youngest member of the band. Another 1987 Taurean Coventry kid, Aman joined the band in September 2006, taking over Robbie’s role as Fancy Nancy’s skin hitter. Robbie was keen to try a new direction of music and the transition was silky smooth. On first appearances, an Asian Law student weighing in at around 9 stone wouldn't appear amongst the most likely candidates for Rock drummer of the year…. But how wrong can you be? Aman brought a whole new dimension to the band, providing the beat and energy the band was looking for to go forward. Always a showman, Aman remains the most visually entertaining drummer to be found. Influenced by Metallica, Motley Crue and The Foo Fighters, he has developed a concise feel for true rock drumming, but more importantly a true feel for crowd pleasing and stage presence. Aman cut his teeth with another Coventry band Valhallah, who again formed during schooldays. He is currently studying Law in Birmingham and funds his habits by working in the catering/ barwork industry. (that’s a pub to you & me….)
