The original formation of Inverness in 2002 included Kostadinos Neofotistos (drums) and Paolo Della Rocca (guitar). From two, it grew: In February of 2003 they asked Steve Aglitti to join them as a session bassist and a few weeks later became a member of the band.
Later the band held auditions in Montreal for a lead singer. Quebec City's Vicki Tetreault made the trip and Inverness found their voice. Her deep tone and emotive vocals fit the Inverness personality with their rapidly ranging tempos and timbres.
The Inverness live show is a compelling odyssey of sound. The immediacy of energy unbound electrifies the air and carries the crowd through sonic scenes, sculptured melodies, and hard driven rhythms. It’s a diverse sound, originally mapped years ago by their diverse heritage:
Inverness drummer is Kostadinos Neofotistos: son of Greek immigrants who prospered in Canada from modest beginnings - Kosta counts his parents among his heroes. Although self described as 'rather shy', Kosta is forever humorous and hits the skins with his own style. Beats are the doorway down to Kosta’s inner being, where he reveals more through his playing than he ever will in conversation. His musical tastes are wide: jazz, metal and everything in between.
Steve Aglitti is a student of electro-acoustics and has a knack for keeping the ten tons of Inverness gear in working order. Steve’s finely tuned ear was developed from his love of listening to many forms of music. He prefers new ideas and the team environment. Steve grew up in a musical family which has certainly inspired him. Steve's bass is a strong force close to the whirling core of Inverness’ rhythmic nucleus. Indeed, there is something atomic to his approach and he is known for his frenetic kinetic leaps and hops on stage. Steve makes the bass a lead instrument giving Inverness an added dimension of sound and complexity that is unusual in the rock genre.
Paolo Della Rocca was born in Montreal and his irrepressible spirit shines and shimmers in the guitar driven Inverness sound. Paolo holds a degree in History and is interested in literature, wine-tasting and geopolitics. A self taught guitarist, he's a natural who didn't begin playing in earnest until his late teens. His playing is refreshingly direct. Known also by the name Porter, Paolo’s influences span everything from country music, to electronica to every day bells and whistles. He can be ethereal and powerful, and with a string he can connect the reverberation of a butterfly’s wing to the crack blast of an electrical storm. Paolo reminds us: The elements indeed have a place in rock music.
Vicki Tetreault is never afraid to speak her mind or bleed out loud. She is part French Canadian and part Native American. Born in Massachusetts, she moved to Quebec Canada as a child. Not only is music her life, but also she adores reading & creating her own poetry. Vicki is very spiritual, philosophical & seeks gold where beauty seems to have no name. Vicki's musical profession has so far been both a thrill & life changing experience including receiving an invitation to sing with Shania Twain at the Quebec City Coliseum. Fearless & determined, Vicki just may be the most dynamic live performer in any genre you will EVER see. Vicki considerers the stage as her home and a "place of sanctuary."
Armed with passion, drive, and catchy compositions on a progressive edge, Inverness are four artists making a singular fighting spirit. Their fans are their success as they continue to make a name for themselves.
