Chapter 13 began slowly in the summer of 2001 when singer/guitarist Ben Brandon and drummer Gabe Carlson started jamming out “Little Man†by the OC Supertones. They were volunteering at a VBS in Truckee when they were 14 and 13 years old. In 2002 Chapter 13 was a worship band that had up to seven members from the Tahoe/Reno area. They led worship for Youth Groups and Sunday Services at Calvary Chapel of Truckee. In 2003 Gabe’s 13 year old brother, Peter Carlson, began practicing bass with just Ben and Gabe and the current lineup was formed.
The members are committed to a life in Jesus Christ and, through their music explain the hopelessness of life without Him, and the joy of life with Him. Their music comes from a variety of influences – so is sometimes punk, metal, modern worship or pop, but it is usually electric and loud. Heavy rhythm and great melody lines with poignant lyrics make it enjoyable to a wide audience.
