Getting high,on the lonely weekend nights!!!!!

About Me

With a presence that is at once formidable and intimate, Alan Cranney is a performer whose deep emotional register, unabashed passion and absolute integrity sets him out from the pack. Brought up in Clydebank, just outside Glasgow, Cranney sings modern blues songs that draw on folk traditions as well as contemporary influences to make a intoxicating melange that has proved hard to resist for Glasgwegian audiences. Recently cramming King Tut's, a venue voted the best in Britain by Radio 1 listeners, they delivered a stunning set, undaunted by the size of the crowd, that left them in hushed reverence. His songs are like conversations set to music, inviting the listener into there deepest confidences and skipping from nostalgia to defiance or wistfulness to triumphant celebration. Nights out on the town, teenage hopes and adult realisations are all captured in elegant poetry wound around beautiful backing with Alan's voice soaring over the top, husky and soulful. With no ego but bundles of talent, Cranney is the voice of youth and experience, capturing the frustrations and victories of day-to-day life. Followed by an ever-growing crowd of fans that have been won over by word of mouth alone, Cranney can touch a chord in everyone, softening the hardest of hearts and ensuring audiences leave elated, touched by the simple power of unaffected, inspiring music.Reviews:Daily Record(Rick Fulton): 5/5Alan Cranney is from clydebank and already a strong live act in Scotland. "Aint a preacher" is a rollicking Blues pop number with a swamp stomping rhythm and giddy harmonica and by the finish is a mesmerising mesh of rhythm and blues. Its stunning. Old News slows it down and with echoing acoustic guitar, melody, pouting vocals and lyrics which include'crucified and walking down long roads'has something of Dire Straits and the Verve about it. More please Mr C.Skinny Magazine: 5/5"I don't know what I expected, but I know what I got powerful, emotive blues full of fire and brimstone passion, lovelorn tenderness and stunning power. Never short of amazing, Cranney is a sound waiting to break. The List: 4/5"A full house that had packed in to see Alan Cranney who left the stage to well-deserved applause."Noise Magazine: 4/5With a pint in one hand and a cigarette in the other, I swayed along as minutes turned into seconds and Cranney kept me absolutely captivated? Strong songs sung with conviction which manage to pull of the difficult trick of sounding both fresh and familiar, Outstanding!

Sounds Like: Bluesy rock with a hint of folk/soul/dance/country. So many sounds influence the music you need to hear for yourself.
