Static Records, Detroit's eclectic indie label was founded in 1993 by Sue "Static" Summers who is on a mission to "get this music heard." Influenced by the pioneer indie labels like Touch & Go, the label started out in '91 as Chaos Records, and worked with a number of local and regional bands. The first release was a Midwest compilation called "A Fist Full of Chaos."
After a David vs. Goliath battle over the name, Chaos changed to Static, but emerged victorious in a way and kept it's philosophy of "Network" to it's name. Static has worked with hundreds of bands over the years with the label and thru booking shows at area venues. Static continues to work with local and regional bands and people around the world in getting this music out there.
Static Records remains eclectic in its vision much like the wide variety of musical tastes of its founder. It is not limited to a single genre and features all styles of music from rock to pop and everything in between. Static has a catalog of 26 releases available thru the website. While there are so many great bands that have come from the Motor City, this is just a small sample of the bands past and present that Static has released over the years. Static strongly supports all the great Rock & Roll music that has come from the streets of Detroit.
