About Me

I'm a forward-thinking, progressive, positive, manifesting, super-irie, environmentally-conscious, artistic yogini with real ideas, real dreams, and real schemes. I'm flexible, adaptable, and open. I am generous, loving, honest, and not afraid to speak my mind. I'm passionate about the things that fuel me, and faithful to the ones that I love and respect. I love to travel, I love to see and experience new things, I love plants. I love that I always thought I hated cities and suddenly, I'm a burgeoning urbanite. I love that I constantly surprise myself and try to see the positives in even the most dire of situations. I love meeting new people. I love finding old friends. I love love...

My Interests

My little boy Finn, knitting, Film, music, friends, surf, being outdoors, words (especially perspicacity and peregrination), red sneakers, books, organic gardening, cooking dank vegetarian meals, yoga, writing, drawing, collages, hanging out with Ginseng, dancing to some riddums, sewing, running, walking, biking, LIVING, BREATHING, BEING

I'd like to meet:

Robert Greenwald, renegade filmmaker, marketing genius and dispenser of crucial messages. Check out his films at: http://www.bravenewfilms.org/?track=crucialmessages

Music:

All over the board...BUT, I remain true to anything with strong drum and bass because I love to dance. Right now I'm really digging on Asian Massive and UK Bhangra, desi beats and Indian Dancehall, which seems a natural progression from reggae, dub and Jamaican dancehall (my one true love)If I'm moved to dance, I probably like it. Right now that includes, Nickodemus, Osiris, Nappy G and Mariano, and the entire Turntables on the Hudson crew, Houston locals Alxxx and Yogi G, The Soular Grooves Collective: DJ Sun, Suma, Melodic, Thievery Corporation, RDB, Karsh Kale, Elemental Harmonics, STS9 and my reggae favorites: Anthony B, Damian Marley, Sister Carol, Junior Kelly, Jr. Gong, Don Carlos, Sizzla, Capelton, Black Uhuru, Pablo Moses, Toots and the Maytals, Gentlemen, Burning Spear, and of course, the inimitable Bob Marley. The island girl in me needs a heavy dosage of heartsong devotional music like Shimshai, Tina Malia, Sasha Butterfly, Nahara, Saraswati and Heather Noel. For yoga I listen to Jai Uttal, Deva Premal, Vas, Bhagavan Das...I also really enjoy The Shins, Elliot Smith, Iron and Wine, Remy Zero, The Postal Service (thank you Erica!), and Beck, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Donovan, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Nina Simone, Alice Coltrane, Richie Havens...this is by no means a complete list. Like I said, all over the board.

Movies:

Amelie, I Heart Huckabees, Garden State, Maria Full of Grace, Motorcycle Diaries, Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, my all time favorite What's Up Doc?, Donnie Darko, Whale Rider, The Big Blue, Danny Deckchair, Paper Moon, Eternal Sunshine, Adaptation, Lost in Translation, Napoleon Dynamite, Goonies, The Triplets of Belleville, Office Space, Born Into Brothels, Fog of War, Capturing the Friedmans, Little Miss Sunshine, Spellbound, Run Lola Run, Like Water For Chocolate, The Professional, Ronin, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Riding Giants, Step Into Liquid, In America, Strange Days, O Brother Where Art Thou, Fargo, Raising Arizona, Go, Tommy Boy, Clerks, Usual Suspects...

Television:

Seinfeld re-runs and English Premier League Soccer, otherwise I have no use for the box.

Books:

I love information!! For reading material, I like variety and diversity, pretty much like most things in my life. I like to go back and forth between fiction and non. Favorite Authors From the Fiction Side of Things: ED ABBEY, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Zadie Smith, Daniel Quinn, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Hunter S. Thompson, Bukowski, Witi Ihamaera, Steve Martin, John Kennedy Toole, Steinbeck, etc etc. Non: ED ABBEY, Marc Reisner, BKS Iyengar, Howard Zinn, Carolyn Myss, Amy Goodman, Robert Takaki, Barbara Ehrenreich....Vedic Texts like the Gita, the Ramayana, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Upanisads pretty much make up the backbone of my spiritual self.

Heroes:

generally I don't like this word. But I have deep admiration and respect for those that uplift others, who bring wisdom and radiance to the earth's population and who have dedicated their lives to helping others.
