Future Mode of Operations (FMO) is your basic electronic chill out valve.
FMO is a term used widely in the outsourcing scene, where a company goes from a Present Mode of Operation (PMO) to the outsourced situation (FMO).
The period between the PMO and FMO is called Transition Period.
This act will always be in the Transition Period, developing new styles of electronic music.
The name Future Mode of Operations stands for ongoing explorations, inevitable…
To create the right platform for launching FMO and other related artists, somewhere in 2006 the SHEM record label was founded. SHEM stands for South Holland Electronic Music. It's a save haven for all experimental electronic artists, not wanting to be caught in the web called mainstream.
One of the latest projects is called "Industrial Ruins" and was recorded for a great part in Amsterdam where Catherine Cuellar, from Dallas Texas, added a magnificant vocal contribution. "Crowds" is a fine example, click on Crowds above and give it a try.
Just ready since december 21th: Geluidskaart Leiden!
FMO's anwser to a City Map making contest...
The contest is simply: make a map of the city Leiden in a way you think is best. Feel free to use whatever is needed but keep the actual size to 50 x 50 cm... Right, since all the inspiration goodies point in 2D mapping directions, Coach Bertels thinks differently ;-) He selected the ten places in the city he likes best and made tracks about them. Lyrics were Spoken by Lies van der Meer and a keyboard was abused by Carbon 14... What a team!!
Release party (contest climax) is februari 3th in Leiden.
Check out "Stationplein", "Rapenburg" and "Poorten" in the player above.
Working on:
"Dad in Paris" about the father-son relationship versus culture and a strangely mystical metropole. Recording started mid October 2007 in Paris, but had to be cancelled after two days due to mechanical problems. That's why Coach Bertels is going back to this nice metropole may 16th and 17th 2008. Finish the recordings on the streets, bring them back home and make 'em into a great "Dad in Paris" soundscape album.
Also this year: "Faces", what lies beneath a pretty smile or an evil look?
One of the tracks: Musharraf.
President Musharraf’s spokesman explains the presidents vision on the Myspace track by FMO, in which president Musharraf is seen as OMF [Opposing Military Force] for the country and it’s inhabitants.
The Taliban, he argued, were as much a threat to Pakistan as they were to Afghanistan.
Elections were made a farce by Musharraf as he ordered the assassination of President candidate Buthho. The people are unsure and afraid about the future under this dictators regime.
The FMO track helps the Pakistani to gain confidence.
