About Me

ABOUT ME:
My a.k.a is Arco, and I have been making electronic music for about 3 years in a city called "Adelaide" in South Australia. I gained an immediate interest in Trance Music when I first heard "Adagio for Strings" by William Orbit and "Drifting Away" by Lange. I was further drawn into the genre when I came across the Gatecrasher Compilations in 2002, which included artists such as Lolo, Chicane and Oceanlab who have been strong influences on my music.
MY MUSIC:
I find inspiration for most of my music mainly from the serenity and environment of the Australian Coast. The photos that I have loaded on this site are places which I frequent on the West Coast of South Australia (700km from Adelaide). The ambience and distance from hectic civilization allows me to come up with ideas and progressions for my tracks which I wouldn't normally think of in the city. On the other hand though, most of my lounge and slower tracks have been inspired by great nights out, so my inspirations vary depending on the style of track.
The majority of my tracks are probably not dancefloor orientated, but I try to paint a picture (or a soundscape) of the places that inspire me. This may be (or hopefully!) evident in "Windswept", "Forever Falling", "Far From Home" and "Further South".
"Surge" and "Outer Expanse of Time" are two of my 'harder' tracks, where I deliberately gave significantly more thought of the club environment.
"Cascade" is more a lounge, relaxed, 'cigar lounge' style that I am also experimenting with. "Dimming Lights" and "-700 Bass" are two other tracks of this style, which I will eventually load onto this page.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
All of the songs presented on this site have received airplay on Fresh FM 92.7. In 2005, the track "Surge" was the first track on the very first 'Fresh presents Fresh Air CD' (Fresh FM, local radio compliation). The 12" mix of "Surge" was later pressed to vinyl (white label EP), which was through Central Station Records. "Surge", "Forever Falling" and "The Outer Expanse" were all rated 'Fresh FM Local Tracks of the Week', on separate occasions in 2005. Arco was also selected as the Fresh FM Local Artist of the Week in late 2006. "Cascade" also receives airplay on Nova 91.9 FM (commercial radio).

Band Members: Just myself, I have only been working on solo projects so far. Although, at the moment I am on the search for a vocalist for some of my tracks.
Influences: There are many artists that I have enjoyed listening to over the years, many of which have ultimately influenced my style of music, even though it may not seem obvious.

TRANCE: Chicane, Robert Miles, Solarstone, The Thrillseekers (aliases: Hydra, En Motion) Above & Beyond (aliases: Oceanlab, Nitromethane, P.O.S), M.I.K.E (aliases: Push, Active Sight) and the Gatecrasher Compilations ('99-'03).

(Favourite Gatecrasher Track: San Antonio by Fire and Ice).

HOUSE: Deepest Blue, Soulsearcher, Iio.

ALTERNATIVE / ROCK: Tool, A Perfect Circle, U2, Dream Theater, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus.
Sounds Like: TRANCE: (Far From Home, Surge, Forever Falling, Further South, Windswept, Outer Expanse ... ) A bit like the Gatecrasher Compilations from about 1998 - 2003, with an inherent feel and sound of the ocean and sense of atmosphere.

HOUSE / CHILLED: (Cascade, Dimming Lights, -700 BASS) Lounge music, deep chilled house, with small elements of pop.
