Liyah When you hear the sound of her voice and the inventive style of her music, one can only wonder if this is the next Princess of Pop. Liyah, a 17 year-old singer/songwriter from South Florida, is more than just another pretty face. She will engage you with her hypnotic voice and entrance you with her awe-inspiring music. “Music is a way for me to express my deepest thoughts and opinions,” Liyah asserts. “I want people to know me on a personal level as well as to be able to relate to me through my music.” Listening to the vibrant innovative style that Liyah has to offer, she is well on her way to “superstar” status.
Born in South Africa, Liyah’s extraordinary talents became apparent at an early age. Over the years, she has nurtured and honed her aptitude for singing and dancing to a professional level. By age fifteen, Liyah, singer/choreographer mystified the audience at her first professional performance as an opening act for LL Cool J, Trick Daddy and Fat Joe at the Winter Jamz in Paradise at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL.
Influenced by Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Tupac, Liyah has created her own style of music that is sure to be heralded as the renaissance of Pop. “It’s important that my music entertains, but it’s more important that I provide young girls with a positive message,” Liyah expressed. Sponsored by MAC Cosmetics and being the poster-girl for Disk Makers has given Liyah added star power. Her dynamic performances and encapsulating songs prove that she is already revolutionizing the genre of Pop.
Liyah’s performance prowess is magnified by her professional resume. She performed as the main act, at several of the 2000 Presidential candidate, John Kerry’s South Florida rallies and at the 2002 World Tennis Championship. Liyah was the opening act for Pitbull at various Florida venues. In addition, she has performed at the Garlic Festival, Roots Festival, the Martin Luther King Commemoration and has opened up for both Chingy, and Pretty Ricky. Liyah is making her mark by attaining radio play in several markets. Her song “Watching Me” was on the "Top 9 at 9" charts in Africa. It also played on Y-100 and Power 96 in South Florida. Her song “For Eternity” was charted and has played in Boston, DC, San Francisco and Detroit. Liyah’s new single “Fooled” featuring MIMS has played on X-102.3, WPOW 96.5 fm and various night clubs nationwide. “Fooled”, written and arranged by Liyah, was produced by the Diaz Brothers and features rap artist Mims. Liyah has conducted several “live” radio interviews as the featured artist of the day. Other performances include, 2007 Power 96 Office Christmas Party which also featured veterans such as Rick Ross, Trina and Stevie B. Main act at the 2008 IndoPak Festival. Opening act at the 2008 Calle Ocho Festival in Miami and performances at the 2008 Factor Foundation Benefit Show.
Other collaborations include D-Man of Disturbing the Peace, Pretty Ricky and Casely. She has also worked with producers, Diaz Brothers, Jim Jonsin, and Streetrunner of the Terror Squad.
