ACE WATKINS was born into a very large family were music and singing played a big part in everyday life. The music of artist like The Isley Brothers, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and too many gospel artist to name, fueled the creative fire for this Chicago native soul. Singing soon became Ace's paintbrush, and songwriting was the tool to communicate his life's experiences. His teacher, songwriter Lena McLin was instrumental in fine tuning Aces peculiar voice and sharpening his songwriting skills.
In 1998 Ace Watkins became a member of the Chicago-based nationally acclaimed group Public Announcement. With the platinum plus single Body Bumping, Public Announcement stormed the charts. Then in 2000 the group joined RCA Records releasing their sophomore album with hits like Mamacita, John Doe, and A Man Aint Supposed To Cry. Worldwide performances as well as television appearances on BETs 106th & Park, MTV, Soul Train, and Apollo put this group into the big leagues.
Now Ace Watkins, no longer with Public Announcement and with the first solo album from Public Announcement since R. Kelly, is poised to make noise in any arena he steps into; music theater, or film.
