Bontempi is a dark pop band featuring two former members of Halifax '90s workaholics, Plumtree. Born in a haunted Victorian flat in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bontempi is comprised of siblings and a significant other: Lynette Gillis on drums, Carla Gillis on guitar and vocals, and Geoff Miller on bass and keyboards. They have a knack for turning their scary dreams into dynamic, arrestingly fragile sounds.
Now based in Vancouver, Bontempi released the eight-song EP, What Keeps Us Awake, in December 2004. Notable achievements over the past year include What Keeps Us Awake reaching ..2 on Vancouver’s Citr and Halifax’s CKDU, a cover feature in Vancouver's urban weekly, Westender, and a live In Session performance with CBC Radio 3. The band is currently writing songs for a full-length album.
What the Critics Say:

“The tunes are amazing…Futuristic.†- Dave Ullrich, Zunior.com, ex-Inbreds
“The standout track is the soon to be indie dance hit “Diabolica,†which merges rock with that sweet sound of art school meets pop — done to perfection by those big-haired bands in the ’80s.†- Colin MacKenzie, The Coast
