MyGen Profile GeneratorSinger/Songwriter SHAUNTAII, a Wiradjuri woman, follows a proud tradition as the daughter of Aboriginal Boxing Champion, Wally Carr. SHAUNTAII began singing at a very young age, and wrote her first song at 10 years.In 1995, SHAUNTAII was part the Black Vine Choir, initiating her involvement with the Aboriginal artistic community. Throughout her years at high school, SHAUNTAII performed at many clubs and special functions, while continuing her song writing.SHAUNTAII completed in 1997, Certificates II and III Contemporary Music at EORA Centre where along with other Indigenous students she formed and sang in a band called Wagan. During this time SHAUNTAII acquired the taste of recording by laying down demos with producer Andro Martinez, who has performed with the likes of George Benson and The Beach Boys.In 1998, SHAUNTAII was cast in the multi-award-winning musical, Jimmy Chi’s ‘Corrugation Road’. The Musical toured for six months throughout Australia. The cast also included other well-known, Aboriginal artists like, Stephen (Albert) Baamba.In 1999, SHAUNTAII played the lead role in the musical, ‘Follow Your Dream’, for a six-week season in Sydney. That same year she also took part in the NAISDA production Camouflage, a showcase of new Indigenous Artists, held at the Sydney Opera House.From 2000 - 2005 SHAUNTAII played an integral role in the music department of her church and sang regularly at National and local events.November 2006 SHAUNTAII launched her own original EP. A style of Inspirational Soul - an exotic fabric of Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, a hint of Gospel, with a whole lot of Soul. From January to April 2007 her self titled EP ‘SHAUNTAII’ was at the top of the charts at site mp3.com.au for 3 months. SHAUNTAII’s music has broad appeal, not only here, but also all over the world. SHAUNTAII is now sharing her positive, inspirational soul with the community. In 2006 and 2007 SHAUNTAII performed at major community events throughout Sydney including the following annual events: Pasifika, Fiji Day, Fiji Youth Day, Connection Cafe and NAIDOC week celebrations. She delighted Hervey Bay with her soulful voice at the the annual Rhema Radio - Rhemafest in October 2007. In July 2007 SHAUNTAII was featured as the cover story for Sass Magazine and SHAUNTAII was been nominated for a Deadly Award for ‘Most Promising New Talent in Music’ at the National Indigenous Music, Sports, Entertainment and Community Awards – the Deadlys, which was at Sydney Opera House on 27th September 2007. In 2008, SHAUNTAII will be travelling to Sth Africa, New Zealand and will do local and national performances through Australia. You will see SHAUNTAII singing for her first TV appearance on 'Rise & Shine' on Foxtel ACC Channel Telecast: Sunday, 8.00am 1/06/08 and Sunday, 8.00am 8/06/08 and will also air on Sunday mornings at Channel 9 at 5.30am. Sunday, 5.30am 4/5/08 and Sunday 5.30am 1/6/08 SHAUNTAII will be releasing her debut album this year! Which is very exiting!!! Keep your eyes out for that!
