About Me

In the midst of the current cyclone that is “nu-Americana”, we find poking his head out of the rubble, Peter Joseph. Carolinian by birth, Californian by temperament, but fostered on worldwide music and literature, Peter Joseph has no spiritual native soil. A hip mutt in his own right, he conceives outside tangibility, still within the relations of reality – a paradox analogous with melodies and poetry preceded by a view of the world through young eyes – brooding a naivety, collectively singular in his place on this blue planet. He is a great songwriter, still blossoming in his composing and writing; yet his abilities suffice for us to call him great because of his intellect, ingenuity, and his unyielding, almost mathematical style. In his honest, gentle voice we find hanging like bats from the belfry every tear he's cried, every smile cracked, and the grey area between: Vague streets where we find ourselves in the drunken haze of night, as if in some long-forgotten dream in a far-off place, that which we always remember with fondness. ©2005

Sounds Like: "Thus it is that ideas, which grow up within the imagination and appear so lovely to it and of a value beyond whatever men call valuable, are exposed to be shattered and annihilated by contact with the practical. It is requisite for the ideal artist to possess a force of character that seems hardly compatible with its delicacy; he must keep his faith in himself while the incredulous world assails him with its utter disbelief; he must stand up against mankind and be his own sole disciple, both as respects his genius and the objects to which it is directed." - Hawthorne
