IT'S A DONE DEAL!!!

About Me

Vaughn Thompson is a worship leader/singer/songwriter originally from the DC/ Baltimore area in Maryland, now residing in Los Angeles, CA. He has just recently graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA where he received a Masters of Theology Degree with an emphasis on Worship in the Arts and Evangelism. He is also a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, TN where he received a BA degree in Pastoral ministry with a minor in Business Administration. He is currently a worship leader and outreach coordinator at Newsong LA; a multicultural church in the Los Angeles area (www.newsong.net).As a musician Vaughn has developed a multicultural sound as a result of various musical influences from many different church settings and countries. Ministering in churches that range from Methodist, Pentecostal, Non-denominational, Korean Presbyterian, COGIC, to name just a few, he could not help but find commonalities as well as appreciate the vast differences of all those experiences. This appreciation of different cultures and manners of expression began at an early age. Growing up in a Bi-racial home Vaughn was completely immersed in the heart of colliding worlds. With a Korean mother and a father of German decent Vaughn was forced to bridge cultural gaps at home. While disliking his multi-ethnicity, and even embarrassed of it through his early years, Vaughn has not only embraced and accepted it, but he has grasped it as divine purpose and calling. Vaughn believes that the world is in great need, now more than ever due to our changing world, of people who are able to stand in the cultural gaps as well as generational, denominational, spiritual and social gaps to bridge the worlds and promote unity within the body of Christ."Without this type of ministry in existence we are left with disjointed members and sects of the Body that are meant to act as one. And our chief motivation in all of this is to model the life of Jesus who bridged gaps in his own life and ministry; the greatest of which was the gap between God and humanity."Vaughn aspires to create music and lead worship across the globe promoting unity in the Church and declaring everywhere and to everyone that God is exalted above everything. He is currently working on his first album and hopes to be finished by the end on 2007. It will be a compilation of original praise and worship songs most of which are geared toward the congregational setting. It will be a mixture of ballads, acoustic driven, and piano driven songs with elements of RnB, gospel, and contemporary Christian music. As well as leading worship and working on his music, Vaughn is also an outreach coordinator for Lifeway mission, a para-church organization that focuses on reaching the homeless and the imprisoned with the message of hope and the love of Christ. He leads teams of musicians and ministers once a month downtown to the LA Mission, set in the heart of skid row, to provide a worship service and preach the Gospel for the homeless and those currently enrolled in the LA Mission programs. There at the mission they also pass out clothes, food, and supplies to those in need.Along with the outreaches to the Mission, Vaughn also leads similar teams to detention centers for underage male offenders. Vaughn believes that, "Their story is not over," as he puts it, "and before they have a chance to grow cold and bitter toward society they need someone to believe in them and show them a new alternative in life. That is what we try to do."For the past 3 years in Los Angeles area Vaughn has been serving these outreach ministries that the Lord has used to save, literally, hundreds of people. Vaughn continues to serve them and various churches and ministries with his music and preaching, "bridging the gaps" as he serves in ministry."Ministry is about living life and loving people. Living life is essentially about how we live in response to who God is. And loving people is how we do just that. When we realize who God is, we will then, and only then realize who we are. So I hope and pray that through my music, ministry, essentially my life sum, that God would allow me to be a small part of His great plan of spreading His message of love and reconciliation for the world, to the world."
